Anyone record/watch this? Im getting random periods where it sounds like the guys are talking underwater. I can understand em, but it's garbled at times.

Yes, recorded on a HR24-100 and watched on a H24-700. Didn't watch it live or on local machine.

I got them. Didn't sound at all like the audio dropouts, or the old brrrriiips. Wondering if it was seen on other providers.

Yes! On the most recent episode it was quite bad during the interview segment. I was wondering how I could describe it to post.

Cool, glad to see it wasnt just my gear :)

Mine was recorded on the HR24 in the bedroom, and watched over MRV in the HR22 in the living room.

I just watched the same combination of receivers and channel on a different program and had no issues, I'm thinking it may have been the show or feed.

I've been hearing this on History HD for several weeks now. I recorded the new "Decoded" program last Thursday and deleted it after 10 minutes because the audio annoyed me. Recorded one of the repeats and got the same garbled audio. Deleted again......crummy audio is an instant tune out for me. I have not heard it on any other channel.

I still have it on the DVR.... will watch it later this week and report back.

The two previous episodes came in crystal clear.

But this must be said: The British version is better, even if it is in glorious SD! :D

Much, much...much, much better. In my opinion. I can't stand the American version.

I had the same audio issue in my recordings of Ice Road Truckers.

I had the garbled "underwater" issue as well.

Tried a couple things, turning off dolby, turning dolby back on.
Resetting my AVR, resetting the HDMI handshake, nothing seemed to fix it, so just lived with it.

Haven't had that issue before, or since, just that one time.

It sounded to me like they just recorded it with a bad microphone in certain segments and were not inclined to go back and reshoot the scenes.

I also heard the same thing. I heard it on IR Truckers and Top Gear.

I also agree that the BBC version is much cooler, but they need to broadcast the BBC version in HD.

They do broadcast the BBC version in HD. DirecTV doesn't carry BBC America in HD.

I just watched Top Gear and now I'm watching Decoded and both have the same audio issues that everyone else is reporting. I have the same issues regardless of what receiver I watch the recordings on and the issues are always in the same place. This is definitely and issue with the History channel feed.

Same issue here. Sounds like a tinny, compression kind of issue.

Same problem for me on History and TLC HD. HR20/700, just had it replaced due to this issue but it didn't help.

    1. Not really an audio dropout as described in the sticky thread. It's more like flicking your lips with your finger while you talk, or underwater is also a good description.
    2. Does it live and on recorded programs and seems to be limited to History HD and TLC HD. Happening right now on Decoded.
    3. I don't watch much TV in the day, but it pretty much happens every evening.
    4. Signal strength is strong
    5. Clear skies, no trees or the such.
