    Yes, I am aware that may well be the case.... :bang

    Just for grins we might have a final try using an 8' offset dish and call it a day after that.... It really sucks that just a couple of years ago we could get a huge number of HD channels here (Dishnetwork) and now with the loss of HD on GLA PR sub the HD options are extremely limited!

    I have two 8' dishes, a 6' and a 4' that are basically collecting spiderwebs and bird droppings in my backyard!! Just wish I could put them to good use.

    From your location and those dishes, your best alternative for HD are channels on DLA's Beam Sur (South), soon to be divided up into "Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 covering northern and southern SA for HD programming when the new intelsat birds go up.

    If you can obtain the DLA equipment and somehow subscribe to it of course Beam Sur and the future Regions 1 and 2 of north SA should be receivable on St Lucia with a large dish.

    Thanks for the suggestions! I would love to try a 10' or 12', unfortunately the only people that I know that have anything that size is Digicel (Cell phone company) and one of the local TV stations....

    Totally off topic, we tried for Dishnet at 129 degrees (Ceil 2), got a lock using an 8' dish with the Sat Buddy (on a whole bunch of transponders from 18 up) but the quality read zero on the meter and when hooked up to a VIP 622 receiver got absolutely nothing....:-( Thats where the 10' might just work!

    Sorry egakagoc2xi;

    Ignore the last part of my statement here earlier. Got brain-lock I suppose;

    The extended frequency IF band would be confined to the two coax lines feeding the SWiM module. Not the coax network feeding the receivers at the output of the SWiM module. Therefore your SWiM and MoCA frequencies are likely the same as ours.

    But anyway, can you upload a picture of the SWiM module used down there?

    Or does it look just like our SWiM-8 or -16?

    I assume the dish side configuration is for the SWiM switch to supply 13 vdc on one line to the LNB and 18 vdc on the other for (with the new LNB now) 450-700 MHz, 900-1650 MHz range odd and even channel sets respectively to the SWiM switch'es inputs.

    A Parameter Change

    For the past few years, within the TPN Map 'LIL Market List' tab, we have listed a parameter "MPEG4-Only DMA" which tracked a Designated Marketing Area (DMA) as '100% MPEG4' if all their Locals (non-CONUS channels) were provided only in MPEG4 compression. We held a strict standard, so that a DMA such as Joplin, MO, as an example, was not held to be an "MPEG4 Only" DMA because just one of their network channels was provided as an MPEG2 channel.

    Admittedly, the "100% MPEG4" banner has been a standard used by the Marketing folks, not the Engineering folks.

    This distinction however, has become a muddied, moving-target of late. As just one example, the Honolulu DMA has been an "MPEG4 Only" DMA since its inception in October, 2007. So Honolulu has been a prime example of an MPEG4 DMA. But recently an MPEG2 'ION' channel has been added to the Honolulu DMA and our staunch definition has been un-done.

    Since DMA's are now able to gain -and lose- their "MPEG4-Only" status from week to week, they are now a moving target no longer warranting a week to week tracking.

    Sorry,
    But there is nothing in the data that says an HD WHP Channel 22 is alive or even in testing.

    On 5/29/13, the WHP-22 came alive as the MNT provider for this DMA; but this is clearly an MPEG2 SD channel.

    WHP Channel 21 exists in HD and WHPDT2 21.2 MNT exists in the OTA section.

    It will be interesting to see what the local folks in the Harrisburg DMA discover!

    :)

    This is a new step in evolution to keep an eye on. Here are two HD/MPEG4 channels being tested
    on D7S @119W – a satellite that presently provides no HD channels.

    If the question is about Post #176, for example - then no, it is not a glitch. I have precious little geography to provide a quick perspective of the changes, so many fields of the records are necessarily left out of the 'Doctor J Comments' posts.

    The complete records, with all fields, are always found in theweekly TPN Map Excel.

    I don't think they need to use down block signals @ CATV frequencies for satellite (My guess)
    The lnbf you post has similar specs than a Universal LNBF (Astra Type) Basically they can use a set up just like old times when (only had Ku) and they had a Sat A / Sat B switch (0 KHz / 22 KHz tone)
    For MDU the LNBF will require 4 Outputs.....

    If they want to Stack signals in a single coax then they have enough space from what I'm reading they plan to use only 250 MHz (10.95 GHz to 11.2 GHz) and 750 MHz (11.45 GHz to 12.2 GHz)
    Normally FSS or BSS use 500 MHz or 950 MHz to 1450 MHz when down converted to L-band
    My best guess is that they have enough space in L-Band (950 MHz to 2150 MHz or 1200 MHz in space)

    Regards.
