For the last two days, my 622 is stuck on the "Acquiring Satellite Signal" screen in some sort of loop. It runs through each of the transponders but never gets past "0 of 5" on the tests. I had to unplug and then wait 30 seconds and plug it back in for it to work yesterday (5/2/09). This morning (5/3/09) it started again. I called TS after trying a soft reboot where it still wouldn't work. They had me do another soft reboot and it finally came back. She said she would issue a trouble report. Has anyone else had problems after the nightly update and reboot and what did you do to solve it?

I guess I'm the only one having this issue as I've gotten no responses?

I've never had the problem but have you checked your cables to be sure they're tight? Could possibly be a flaky switch. Or, maybe you need a new receiver. I'm a little surprised that the TSR didn't recommend that. They seem more than willing to ship out new receivers on less critical issues.

My guess is some sort of an equipment/cable problem rather than software since it is not wide spread reported. It's kinda hard to guess about hardware issues. You just have to check everything you can and then start swapping out stuff.

    California...
I had a similar problem tonight. I was recording 1 OTA and 2 sat programs - all HD - as I do every Tuesday. Went to watch one of them from the beginning and it went into acquiring satellites. Stuck forever on 0 of 5 then finally moved on slowly through 1 - 5, then started downloading the guide VERY slowly. About 1/2 way through the download I hit stop to try and catch some of my shows, it started acquiring satellites back at 0 again.

I decided to do a soft reboot at that point and the whole thing repeated, it took about 30 minutes for this entire process until I could finally start watching one of the programs. All of the recordings restarted (minus 30 minutes) and things seem OK at the moment but it's the worst failure my 622 has ever experienced.

Not sure when I got my last software upgrade or if this is a result of it but ... not so good. :(

I have a technician coming over between 12 - 5 today. I'll post back what he finds out.

The tech is currently here and he says he couldn't get a good signal with the Dish1000. He's going to replace my two dish setup (1000 getting 119 and 110 and the other pointed to 129) with the Dish1000.2. Anyone here have problems with the 1000.2 getting 110, 119 and 129?

I get 110, 119 and 129 with a single dish 1000. It seems to me there should be no reason you can't get just 110 and 119 with a dish 1000 and using the second dish for 129 could be getting you a better signal than a single dish.

Which sat was he having problems getting? I would think if you are having problems getting a good signal it would be harder to aim a single dish at three sats than two dishes. But I guess as long as he can get a single dish pointed well and working, it's all good.

I have had that same problem on my 625, but not on my 722. Dish has been out a few times and replaced everything and some things more than once and it still will do it. I have found other posts with others having the same problem and thought it was being caused by there monster line conditioner, but I have not seen any answer for sure that was the cause. I have set my update time to 12AM so I can see it happen and reboot it, but it will never do it while I am watching it. I hope someone can find the cause of this, since I can't depend on my 625 for recording.

Well, on my first attempt to record a non-OTA satellite channel, it failed and it says "signal" as the reason. I've called them again to come and re-point the dish. Maybe I should have stuck with the two dish solution? Anyone here know if there's a web site that indicates all the channels and which satellite/transponder recieves them?

I have been having the same issue for the last few months now. Some weeks it will record fine, then it will not get reception or a message about the card. I never had a problem like this until after this last update.

Did we somehow get off of the original topic. I have the "Acquiring Satellite Signal" screen, but none of the others posted here.

I am getting the same message about aquiring sat signal that never gets aquired and also about the smart card. Some weeks it works fine others it's a nightmare.

The tech came over late yesterday and said there were several loose areas of the LNB/Dish that he had to tighten. I had him check the signal strength on all satellites. 110 and 119 were coming in strong (60s and 70s). 129 was only between 18 and 22. He said that was normal for 129. I told him I had signal in the 30s when I had the two dish setup. He kept insisting that I would not have problems with the low signal on 129. I insisted that he tweak it for a stronger signal and he said it would make 110/119 go down. After he spent some time re-pointing the dish we checked 129 and it was back in the 30s. Amazingly enough, 110/119 were still way up in the 60s and 70s. Remember to always insist that your technician work on 129 to bring the signal up or they'll always leave that satellite signal way low which may cause you problems.

If you are getting in the 30's with a Dish 1000.2 you would have been able to get about 6 to 8 points higher with your old setup. All that was probably needed was a re-aiming fo the 129 dish.

For the past 2 days I have been having the same problem (acquiring signal) with my 622; the other receivers (Vip 212 and sd 301) work fine. On check switch everything ok, signal good, but the 622 just tries to acquire sat signal.... After a few hours it finally came on yesterday; nothing yet today.

129 has a bunch of spotbeams, so you must check on non-spot-beam transponders (17 and above) to get accurate signal strengths. But there's no good reason why you are only getting in the 30s; you should be getting at least low 60s, at least on the CONUS transponders.

For the past 2 days my 622 took hours to acquire the signal; yet this morning it came right on without a problem. I wonder if there was some software issue??

So it was stuck on acquiring sat signal on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday. Ugh. A call into Dish tonight when I get home
