Thanks Newshawk, D* should keep trying to get Weigel to lower their price, not just keep doing nothing about it. I have been told for many years that D* was going to carry this channel in HD. They should have told customers to call Weigel Broadcasting to ask them to lower their demands, not keep telling customers it is coming soon!

Maybe someone doesn't want us to watch Tommy on the sideline in HD because that will detail how clueless he really is?

I don't think the problem is "overvalued product".

As when local-into-local started in 2000, Weigel is probably trying to force the hand by making sure ALL of their interests are being rebroadcast by DirecTV.

In other words, Weigel is trying to force WCIU-HD in Chicago to be available on DirecTV, as well as maybe a couple of others.

sorry, i know so many people are excited at the prospect at tier 3 small cities/towns getting HD coverage.

Honestly, i think it's great. but.... I would love a few extra HD channels National as well.

you know, AMC HD, some more HBO/CINEMAX and Showtime HD.

Greg Bimson you are correct "Weigel is trying to force WCIU-HD in Chicago to be available on DirecTV, as well as maybe a couple of others." It would be great for the Chicago DMA to have WCIU-HD they carry some of the Cubs, White Sox and Bulls games. I am in the Milwaukee DMA and would to see Chicago get this channel in HD along with us getting our CBS station in HD.

You are right, my mistake. My question is still the same. If the glitch had anything to do with HD rollouts.

There is a huge thread in the HD DVR section where it is being discussed. There aren't any definitive answers as to what caused the problem, but most of the speculation seems to be that it was issues with bad guide data that caused the problem.

Well, on the Columbia, SC side of things, I called today regarding local HD. It is not in the works at all for this market. Further, if I want to get an AM-21 to receive over-the-air on my HR-21 machines it's $50 apiece.

Ouch. I'm a long-time customer of DirecTV, and I pay them about $130/mo for the various services - that's a lot because I subscribe to a lot. I'm very disappointed in DirecTV for taking that stance.

I need to say that the CSR I spoke to seemed very knowledgeable and very nice and I have no complaints on that score. Nonetheless, folks in the Columbia, SC market (#79, I think) are just out of luck. We aren't the only ones, I know, but it's going to be hard to stick with DirecTV when every other provider here, including Dish, has HD locals. If it's a matter of weeks or months or it's in the plan somewhere that's one thing. But I'm really beginning to think that they won't ever offer them here (read: not for years) and that's just stunning.

Florence/Myrtle Beach, Greenville (a larger market), Charleston, Augusta, GA, Savannah, GA, and Charlotte, NC (a larger market) are all lit up, covering the entire state except the middle. According to the local stations, there are no contractual issues.

I passed along my respectful displeasure today, for what difference it makes.

Evansville Indiana area HD Locals appeared on 10/8 as scheduled.
    Channels 7,9,14,25,31 and 44.

Channels 9 and 31 carry PBS programming.
Channels 9 and 31 appear to be carrying SD instead of the HD subchannel!

Thanks for being the first to inform us of this. I found them! They look great. I had to leave the 72.5 antenna hooked up to get CW19. I am very happy with the HD. Seems odd this channel is picked up on SD but not HD perhaps it is not HD yet. I know there is a thread showing HD locals all over the country just can't remember where. Really the thread sent you to a website. Ill look for it.

As I was told earlier by JONSAMUEL the post says OCT. 08 not OCT. 8. It must have been just an accident ours came up on the 8th. Good luck in your area.
