It's all relative. You just stated your expectations (perhaps missing a Giant, Niner or Shark game would ruin your life), but others are allowed to have their own expectations, independent of yours.

As DirecTV augments its HD lineup, I keep hoping to reduce my outlays to Comcast by limiting the channels to which I subscribe. Given DirecTV’s current disinclination to consummate carriage agreements for the Pac 12 network and Fox Sports 1 and 2, however, it appears I’ll have to retain both services for some time. BTW, Comcast usefully specifies “upcoming contract renewals” (or, better, possible contract expiration) on its webpage, instanced by multiple LILs in August and MGM HD in September.

    Somewhere...
Thanks to the Fox Sports 1 situation I may have to add a third provider to make up for Directv's current short comings. I new as this was coming closer that I would have to. Once that happens I may adust packaging again to take into account what is in lower packaging that I want with other companies that were the only reason for a particular package being subscribed to. Already cut the preimum movie channels away. I have no need for them when I can watch what I want when I want in my own house anyway.

You still don't get it. You seem to conflate pro sports in the Bay Area with college sports. My expectations are based in reality, not some wish list. And of course others have their own desires with no relevance to mine in many cases. I object to the strident demanding of one's wants, be it Pac12 or QVC in HD, whatever.

Well, *I* expect to get every Orioles, Nationals, Capitals, Wizards, Ravens and Redskins game. But that's because I know they are under contract. You can't expect what is not promised to you. You can hope but to expect or demand to get something you aren't paying for is fantasy.

I can expect and demand the pac 12 make nice and get on directv some way because they TOOK AWAY what I already had and are giving me no ability to get it.

The reality is that contracts can end, financial disputes can happen, and you could find yourself without access to your Giants, Niners and Sharks...the games you said you expect to receive. DirecTV customers in Philly do not have access to the Phillies, Sixers or Flyers...people in Houston do not have access to the Astros, people in Portland do not have access to the Trailblazers, people in LA came thisclose to losing access to the Lakers.

So if you lost access to the Giants, Niners and Sharks, many Bay area people would be posting in here stating they want to receive those games. It's all relative...what may be considered trivial or irrelevant to you, is important to others...and others would not care about your plight regarding your Giants, Niners and Sharks.

    That's the reality.

Once again, I am talking reality (see also Tony's post). What is now. For those of us who are not getting all the games we want to see, which includes me, those wants are not irrelevant or trivial to me, but they are not expectations.

We, my son and me, talked about getting the Sunday Ticket so that he could watch all of the Packers games.
When we found out that Blackout Rules still applied there was no reason to get the one or two more games than we get already on the programming we already pay for.

Why would Blackouts be allowed for a package that is specifically for ALL games and there is a FEE paid to the NFL for this package ??

You're getting into semantics. People have 'wants' but not 'expectations'...or vice versa. The bottom line is there is programming people would like to see, and this is the forum to express that.

People like you making fun of them, stating it will 'ruin their lives', is unnecessary at the very least.

1.) When one has said the equivalent of just that, he's open game.
2.) Expectations and wants are different.
3.) Expressing what one wants to see is indeed part of the purpose of DBSTalk, but incessant whining, threatening and hyperbole really don't belong here.

One type of blackout is that if the team doesn't sell out it is blacked out in the local market of that team only. NFL rule.

The other kind of blackout is when the game is being shown on a network station then the Directv feed is blacked out in that market so that people will watch the local channel.

No way you would ever miss a Packer game unless you had no way of receiving your local channels.

Since guide data is dumped from the source without editing, I don't think this means much of anything.

When I checked last night, it actually look like to be the Fox Sport 2 programming - for example, the replay of the UFC Fight night on Fox sports 2 was going to be broadcast like 4am ET. And Fuel is actually transitioning to Fox Sports 2 Saturday without any major issues, as the carriage agreement and the fee to carry it, at the present time, is the same as the one for Fuel Tv.
