I am always amazed when doc says there are no carry over penalties nor power plays at eh start of a period, I am pretty sure that is redundant, if there are no carryover penalties, hard to see how there could be carryover pp's

Having had center ice for a few months now I can say he is indeed one of the better ones. I like my own teams color commentator a lot myself. I especially like a series during the first intermission of a Wild game on Fox Sports Net where the guys "face off" against eachother on topics, rapid fire style.

I like the Av's, Blue Jackets, and Blues broadcast teams as well. Pang was one of the better commentators back when the NHL was on ESPN. Thank god no one seems to have given Barry Melrose a job.

That guy on MSG who calls for the Sabres game...I guess Sabres fans must like him but personally he drives me kinda nuts with his calls, especially sabres goals.

And Nashvilles broadcast team is kind of funny sometimes, but a little hard to listen to for long periods.

Oh, and Detroit's play by play guy needs to chill the eff out. Seriously.

I love Emrick. He certainly deserves his place in the Hall of Fame. Knowledgeable and classy guy, for sure.

Wish he was our announcer (Pens).

Emrick is very classy, even if the tone of his voice can grate a little bit. He knows his stuff tho, that is for damned sure. Versus sure is lucky to have him doing play by play.

4 on 4 requires a carryover penalty per side.

But it's not a penalty and a goal does not end it.

I agree with that, Sabres fans love RJ! As with many announcers, he is very biased for the home team and shows a lot of enthusiasm. Unlike some monotone announcers à la Pittsburgh.

I wouldn't mind Gary Thorne & the Panger instead of Emerick & Edzo.
Just glad we don't have to listen to Pierre McGuire on VS.

    Gotta love Pat Foley, too!!

While watching the Red Wings beat the Penguins the other night I realized how much I really did miss Vs.

Just another example of what that idiot Bill Wirtz did when he fired Foley. As I've said before, the BEST thing that happened to the Blackhawks AND the NHL in the last 50 years? The death of Old Man Wirtz.

remember. some penalties are co-incidental where there is no loss of man power, just 5on 5, so Doc is correct in what he says....
PS isn't it the worse looking toupee that Chico wears. Instaed of using his money for buying food that we have to watch him gouge himself, he sould buy a nicer mop for his head

The new FCC rules also make outages like this to happen again.

Also what role did the new FCC rules have in VS coming back as there was a lot moment right around the time that the court made that rule.

Was there some Na na na na, na na na na we don't need to play VS to get CSN Philly?

The FCC rules only pertain to local must have channels...RSNs for the most part.

Versus is a national network and is not affected.

What he means I think, are the rules the FCC just re-crafted to close the so called terrestrial loophole in order to force channels like CSN Philly to be offered to DirecTV and Dish, and the proposed rules that mandate that disputed channels stay up during carriage disputes. I believe there might be an arbitration clause in there somewhere, but not sure.
