Most of the posts I have seen here are subscribers who have had experience with this sort of issue before. Many people who are current subscribers may have come from DISH when they were having the same negotiation issues with Versus, and as you see here, some DirecTV subscribers are threatening to go to DISH if it is not solved soon. I wonder how many of them, that are threatening to leave, were ones that came over from DISH when they had their negotiation dispute with Versus.

I think it was pretty clear that we were seeing a lot more hints then just coming from saucony.

    * Satelliteracer, who has been a consistently reliable source, posted that we should be patient and something was coming.
    * When VERSUS was pulled off the air, PPV on 159 was turned up. A few days ago, Sixto (also a consistently reliable source) noted that PPV 159 has been disabled, freeing up a transponder spot for VERSUS if/when it were to return.
    * DirecTV's twitter feed had turned much more positve and indicated that things were progressing / in progress.
    * DirecTV's VERSUS website was updated and a lot of the more negative rhetoric was removed.

That's a lot of smoke for no fire. It is clear that something is still in the works, and we're closer than we were.

In fact, VERSUS has now posted a statement on IndyCar.com here:
    http://www.indycar.com/schedule/content/34716/

This is the first time we've heard VERSUS recently say they were working on a deal and they're getting close. Up until this point, most of what we've seen has come from DirecTV.

So, back off from attacking saucony, it's pretty clear that he/she has valid information and is just passing along a best guess. The moment a deal is down, we'll hear about it.

Indeed. The best thing that ever happened to this storied franchise--the best thing that ever happened to the NHL, in fact--was when Wirtz died.

Not attacking at all, I hope he is right, all I was saying is we've been down the road before and I hope we have a settlement soon.

We've been down the road of pointless speculation without any backup.

It's pretty clear this time that SOMETHING is brewing. I don't think VERSUS and DirecTV would put an agreement in place and then wait several days to actually put it back on the air.

I think saucony is just giving us a "best guess effort" that it feels from the pace of negotiations that we might have something by Friday. The deal isn't done until it's done, you know? Even with inside information, you can't nail down an exact time unless say, a deal is done tonight with the agreement to go back on air tomorrow at x time.

Based on that link I posted to the VERSUS page on IndyCar.com, it seems like there is hope that a deal may be in place before Sunday, but if not, they're providing a webcast for those with DirecTV.

HD Net does the best with sports programming, bar none. Unfortunately, even fewer people have access to HD Net than to Versus.

I miss those games when HD net used to put hockey on.

I don't know what they did but they blew everyone elses PQ away.

It was really good when they did the on ice microphones and no announcing. You could hear the real sounds of the game.

Sad but true. It was so bad the Chicago Wolves(The AHL team) outdrew them for some games. Chicago is a Hockey town as long as the owner isn't screwing over the fans.

I suspect the Vs thing to be resolved by the Playoffs for sure. At least all the hints are pointing that way.

I also have to admit that I do miss the HDNet NHL games. I do wish that next season they could again find a way to at least get a select number of games.

The HDNet coverage is the best bar none, with the only exception being some of the HD coverage I have seen from CBC in Canada.

I do at this point want to see Versus back as it has been a difficult hockey season missing national games on Versus that I can't get with NHL CI.

In addition, I still like to watch the IndyCars and I hate to see the season starting and I might miss those races, just like I missed the races at seasons end last year.

I would like to think a deal is near, but it has been a pretty long wait and based on this I have to wonder what Comcast will do if they get control of the NBC channels as well. Does this mean we can expect more situations like this with Comcast owned channels in the future?

    Re Penguins:
Sure were a LOT of Bandwagon fans when they played the Kings @ Staples Center earlier this season compared to the last time they came to town...
