I completely agree. E* and viacom need each other. To a couple of people above, who think a.) I'm 13 and b.) anyone who cares about viacom channels must be sitting there masturbating to MTV, give me a break.

First Viacom channels include tvland, nick at night, cbs. These are all channels that older generations would be interested in. I personally enjoy watching reruns of old sitcoms on tvland and nick at night, and I'm 23. Go figure I'm not someone who says, "oh its not from my generation it must be crap," like some others on this board. Just because you don't find something interesting doesn't mean that there aren't millions of other people out there that do.

I really do feel if talks would break off between E* and Viacom, both sides would suffer greatly. On E*'s side, they would not have some of the most basic cable channels, which would make them a very tough sell over cable and d*. On viacoms side, they will instantly lose 9 million homes. Not something to sneeze at.

Although...they can be my guest to get rid of VH1. That channel went from the adult contemporary music video station to complete garbage. They don't even play "Behind the Music" anymore. All I ever see on there is I love the 80's or whatever the hell it is. That channel is truly a waste of space, it angers me everytime I pass by it, I just wish it would die....ok, end rant.

I hear Charlie is a good poker player. He "knows when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em and when to walk away...".
At the eleventh hour Charlie will call, and Viacon will fold.

It's still better than MTV. (But then again, so is a sharp stick in the eye.)

You've got a crush on Charlie, dontcha?

You found me out! :eek2: Actually, it's not Charlie I'm attracted to, it's his $$$. I'm hoping he will support me in the style to which I would like to be accustomed - and - give me a nice discount on my AEP+HD "package". :sure:

Just make sure to get a pre-nup. Also, book your trip early. Flights to San Francisco and hotel rooms here are booked solid.

Well, when Dish pulled my Allbritton ABC affilate, then locals where free that month. I hope the Viacoms do get yanked, might be worth the $5 discount.

IN THIS JAN. ARTICLE IT STATES THATS ECHOSTAR CLAIMS THAT CHANNELS LIKE TVLAND , CMT AND SPIKE ARE NOT THAT IMPORTANT AND WILL NOT KEEP NEW SUBSCRIBERS FROM JOINING DISH. ALSO THAT EXISTING CUSTOMERS WON'T LEAVE DISH IF THESE CHANNELS ARE PULLED. DISH IS ONLY CONCERNED WITH KEEPING CBS. THEY BETTER KEEP THEM ALL.

WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT. IF TVLAND GETS PULLED IM GOING TO DIRECTV OR BACK TO CABLE. heres it is.

You could flush tvland, cmt, and spike down the toilet and I wouldnt notice for a year. Directly replacing them with BingoTV would be an upgrade IMO.

I know that I watched Adam 12, Dragnet, and Emergency on TV Land, they have also aired Airwolf and I believe MacGyver on that channel also.

I know that the $5 was voluntary, not saying that it is an increase that Dish has had, but I am saying that it all adds up, $5 for locals and $3 price increase is $8. For those thinking about going back to cable that may be enough to cause them to do it, even if cable took a rate increase, some customers dont look at it that way. To me the locals are well worth the $5 extra a month but some think it should be included.

I can just see cable and directv jumping for joy next week if the viacom's get yanked from dish. I'd turn on the weather channel on my comcast basic package and get "so you want to watch mtv,cmt,vh1,nickelodeon....., and you have dish network...... this is what you get.....(pictures a screen showing "this channel not available while we work out a contract").... want these channels? They're ONLY available on comcast!!! call 1-800-comcast to get your favorite channels today!!!!" Oh yeah, Comcast will shove those ads down our throats while the channels are off the air, you can bet your house on that my friend!!!!

I could also see cable and DirecTv jump for joy too, and yes I can see what your saying Nick, lol.

I think that subscribers should give Dish a little time to get the channels back but you know that the cable company and DirecTv is not going to give them time, they will probably get started right away on the ads against them, so even if they end up having them off for a month or less, this could cost Dish.

I predict DISH will take them off for 5 minutes at night and Viacom will literally s*** it's pants and offer Charlie an acceptable deal. Maybe even cheap Nicktoons TV too, Viacom could make up for it by charging higher ad rates since more can watch.
