Is anyone else now getting regular video stuttering?

Today while watching hockey, I witnessed video stuttering at least hourly for approx. 5 seconds at a time. It has gotten worse with 13d and 13e. I saw this occasionally starting back in January, but in the past day or so, its gotten even worse.

Would be nice if D* would address this problem in a new update.

What channel(s)? Doesn't seem any worse to me on any channels.

I was just going to start a thread about this...last night on FSN Bay Area every 20 seconds or so there would be a sudden "jerk" in the picture for a split second...happened during the entire Warrior game...the audio does NOT hiccup however...had not seen this on any other channel...

During the Busch race this afternoon on WABC (86) national mpeg-2 there was numerous video and audio interuptions that I witnessed. Dunno if it was station, D*, or HR20 related.

The video would go all haywire with big green areas dominating most of the frame.

I noticed the video stuttering today on NESN (623) while watching the Rangers beat the Bruins, but also on other channels. Same thing when watching a recorded PBS program today (from my local SD PBS station via D*). I've also seen video stuttering worse lately while watching hockey on MSG (via Center Ice) in SD. I don't know what other channels, but I don't think it is a station issue.. since it happens on SD and HD channels, plus when watching recorded programs, I think it is an HR20 issue. Its just gotten noticeably worse lately. The audio continues to play fine when the video stutters.

I see quite a few people report this problem, yet each time a new release comes out, the release notes never mention a fix for video stuttering. I wonder if D* is either:

    1. Aware of the problem, although many report it here, OR
    2. D* has no idea what is causing this problem.

I wonder if Earl can chime in on this one? This video stuttering issue is really annoying! Don't know if its a software issue, an HR20 hardware issue, or a datastream issue or what.

I have gotten horrible studdering (to the point where I actually get blue messages on the screen as if I don't get the channel) on the mpeg2 HD channels. This has been bad since the last 2 updates and it seems worse at night. At first I thought it was loose cables (it indeed stopped for a short time after tightening the cables, but started up again hours later) but it looks like that wasn't the issue.

I am getting digital breakup watching Nascar today (local channel 11) and was getting it earlier on NHL (local channel 4).

I noticed it last week on the prime time network shows as well.

pkd88 - Digital breakup (aka pixelation) is different than the video stuttering I am referring to. Video stuttering is when it looks like every other video frame is missing and its slightly choppy.

I have been noticing stuttering when watching Battlestar Galactic on Sci Fi (ch. 244). It seems to more noticable when I am either recording or watching something recorded.

I thought it might be my display, but now I'm leaning toward the HD DVR, particularly the recorded material. Any thoughts?

No idea of the cause.. I've been reporting it since January, but its only gotten worse with 13d and 13e. Would be nice to see a fix.
