WAPA America Debuts on DIRECTV PARA TODOS® Programming Service

    El Segundo, CA Aug 23, 2004 DIRECTV, Inc., provider of the nation's leading digital multichannel television service, today announced that WAPA America, one of Puerto Rico's premier networks for news, movies and original programming, will make its U.S. debut on the DIRECTV PARA TODOS® programming platform this September. WAPA America will utilize the content of WAPA TV in San Juan, which is owned and operated by LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL). DIRECTV will be the exclusive satellite TV provider of the new network through Jan. 31, 2006, and it will be available to all DIRECTV PARA TODOS customers at no additional cost.

    "DIRECTV PARA TODOS customers will be the first to see WAPA America in the United States and will now have access to even more Spanish-language programming that is both culturally relevant and entertaining," said Stephanie Campbell, executive vice president, Programming, DIRECTV, Inc. "We are pleased to serve the Puerto Rican community with programming that is direct from Puerto Rico, and to continue our commitment to offering DIRECTV PARA TODOS customers the best and most diverse lineup of Spanish-language programming."

    Gary R. Chapman, LIN TV's chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "We are proud to launch WAPA America with DIRECTV whose interest in our new service speaks volumes about its potential.     WAPA America offers popular programming such as, "SuperXclusivo," a daily one hour show featuring the unforgettable "La Comay," a character who delivers the latest gossip of the entertainment world, including artists, politicians and public figures of Puerto Rico. SuperXclusivo, the #1 show in Puerto Rico, is co-hosted by Hector Travieso and Leo Fernandez III, a bold paparazzo that presents daily videos and interviews. Programming will also include more than 42 hours of news each week, produced by the Noticentro 4 news team, which brings the best live coverage in Puerto Rico for breaking news, weather, traffic, medical, consumer and international news, as well as investigative
