Just a heads up to anyone who is canceling or has canceled EI for this season.
I called twice in the last month to ensure EI is canceled because it remained in my online programming package (although it said $0.00). Today I looked and saw my account was charged for the first installment of $31. So for the THIRD time I called and said "cancel" at the prompt and got a CSR who knew what she was doing. Gave me a cancellation confirmation # and it is now gone from my online subscription list with an appropriate credit.

She said the problem was due to computer problems, so just beware because once the season starts you are stuck. :nono2:

I think saying "cancel" at the prompt is the key to getting a knowledgeable CSR.

I had the same problem. Called to cancel and was logged on to my account during the call. I told the CSR that MLB appeared twice (showing $0.00 due) in my programming listing. He said not to worry and after trying to save me by offering $10/mo for 6 months, he said he canceled it and I would not be billed. Later that day I saw there was still one MLB listing showing but ignored it. Sure enough, when the bill dropped, I got hit for the first month's charge and had to call again. It was removed before my automatic billing was taken. So all's well that ends well... but I should have persisted!

Same thing happened to me... I've called them twice. It's still on my bill, so I might have to keep on them. We're making financial cutbacks in our family and this was one that just wasn't a necessity...I'll still have plenty of channels to watch baseball on.

Quick update (for anyone interested)... I noticed today (again) on my online D* bill that the EI was still showing up even though I canceled. So I just called them again (after my last post).

VERY IMPORTANT: When you call you not only need to cancel, but you also need to make sure they GIVE YOU CREDIT BACK ON YOUR ACCOUNT!! THIS was the problem...they canceled it, but they never took the charge off my bill.

The CSR I spoke with (very nice person, btw) was very helpful... She could not provide me the credit, but got a supervisor who could. When I got off the phone and logged back into my D* account online, the credit was now showing up properly.

Make sure when you call the 800 number that you say the words: "CANCEL MLB" - that takes you to the correct place.

Just canceled....rep said up to 24 hours until the credit posts. We shall see. I had the same problem trying to get my Mega March Madness credit back. Had to call the next day and ask about it, then it only took about 10 minutes.

When it is done correctly you should see an instant credit online. And be sure to get a cancellation verification number. This "it will get done in the next 24 hours" often does not work. Learned the hard way a couple times.

I had the same problem. Called to cancel. Noticed a few weeks later it was still in my account online. Called back to confirm and was assured that it was removed. Noticed on my most recent bill that they had went ahead and charged the first installment. The only reason I had canceled was that I was debating switching to FiOS to get Versus. Then I found out I was still under contract for another year. Then Versus came back. In the end, a mute point, but still very frustrating.

There were problems 2 years ago about people trying to cancel NFL-ST.I startred a thread about this.
For some people your cancellation may show up online as being cancelled only to reappear a day or two later. This has happened a few times to me.It is very important that theAuto Renewal be removed that is the key here. Most level 1 csrs cannot do this.

MLB credit has been posted. Hopefully the package doesn't appear again when it's too late to cancel for a full refund!

Same thing for me cancelled last month only to find I was charged 31.99 in March. Called to get MLB EI removed and a credit on my account and they sold me the package for six payments of 11.99 with superfan, could not pass that up.

Wow!! For that I would have stayed on board... Is it worth calling them back up, seeing what kind of deal they'd give me? Can you "negotiate" (for lack of a better term) with them on stuff like this?

I've been with D* for 3 years now, and have always paid my bill on time (automatic withdrawal) and have purchased a number of the various sports packages - NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB)... I'm only canceling because my wife and I are making cutbacks and are watching our expenses. But For six months at twelve bucks a pop I'm sure I could convince her this is a good thing for our marriage... :)

I am happy as a D* customer but this has been common with me

I have cancelled multiple things in the past and been told 2-3 times that it was in fact off my account only to have it put back on and charged

    ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BILL
