A friend of mine has the titled setup...1 HD DVR, 4 HD receivers - he has the aformentioned multiswitch hooked up as follows...

4 coax outputs of au9 into 4 left inputs of MS
1 coax from 72.5 dish in correct input on MS (2nd from right)

outputs 4-8 hooked into 4 receivers (2 into dvr, 1 each to 4 HD receivers), as follows -

bedroom HD rec = port 4
basement HD rec = port 5
garage HD rec = port 6
    HD DVR = ports 7-8

His basement H20-100 (port 5) keeps getting multiswitch error message (Multi Switch Problem. Check that cables are connected correctly and the multi-switch is working properly) or taking over command of his garage receiver (no signal goes from basement receiver to garage receiver) - more or less he can only get 4 of the 5 receivers to ever work, and the basement receiver seems to be the one with most the issues. His locals on 72.5 work on all 5 receivers when the basement/garage receivers are working.

My thinking is he has a bad wb68. Otherwise, is this hooked up correct? I told him to try moving the port 5 coax from there to port 1, and if that doesn't work, move all 5 from ports 4-8 to ports 1-5.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

that actually seems to be an issue due to 72.5 locals moving. we are seeing cases of such. try a software upgrade on the suspect unit

Is this system in a market whose 72.5 locals just went HD? There was a similar problem in Sioux Falls when the locals went HD. H20 receivers go the multiswitch error message but newer DVRs were OK. The problem was at D*'s end and it took them about a week after the changover (and floods of calls from users) to correct it.

This could well be your problem.

So you're saying, on the affected receiver, a software update might cure this? And the hookups to the MS are correct?

I know there's a way to force software downloads on an H20 type receiver...how does that work again?

    An update...

First, my friend tried updating all softwares on all his 4 receivers as mentioned above - did not work. So, he called the installer (QC Satellite out of the Quads) - they thought it was the receiver still, so they ordered a replacement, which my friend put in. Still same error message.

So, the installer hooked them up with what the installer termed "DTV emergency maintenance" with DTV itself...DTV is sending out one of their techs to replace the multiswitch this Wednesday and check the install overall. DTV said it sounded like what they termed "port bleed" of the MS.

    Thanks for everyone whom helped...
