Yes, as Happy says, Jesse Jackson has some flaws, so he is the problem, and you can ignore the real problem.

Some people invest in things that appreciate in value -- like homes or learning new skills; other people "invest" in things that depreciate -- like flashy cars, decked out vans, or big SUVs. Others spend on things that wreck their lives -- like booze, cigs, or crack. People of all races make these choices; and they benefit or are harmed by the results.

But arguing that redistributing the wealth equally will solve the problem is like throwing money up in the air and running like hell fearing to look back and see the consequences as if they might end up like Lot's wife. Take 100 people who win a million in the lottery. Some will manage it wisely and have 10 million a decade later; other will end up so deep in the hole that bankruptcy, or suicide, or crying that the world is so unfair is the scenario a decade later.

Another conservative who believes the economy is as big as it will ever be. Exactly who is promoting redistributing the wealth? What is discussed in the article is ACCESS to wealth. The language conservatives keep using indicates their fear, and the source of their prejudice. The conservative thinking is, "If blacks get ahead, it means whites won't do as well." The message of white supremacists is still alive and well. Conservatives must live very insecure lives.

    Happy Martin Luther King Day.

By the way, thank you for so successfully demonstrating what modern liberalism is all about. You can't really criticize the statements, because they basically are common sense. So you attack, call the conservatives racists and rattle the sabers of the 60s. Unfortunately for you, some blacks have learned to join the system, take responsibility and access wealth without demanding others give up their wealth to be more fair and instead of continuing to portray themselves as victims and live in defeat.

sounds like the modern liberals are the ones living very insecure lives :D

Do you ever do anything other than bash liberals. It seems to me you have a prurient interest in doing so. You have totally lost my respect with this thread.

Rather than bash each others political leanings, each of us should look inward today to determine if we are the problem or part of the solution.

Ok. I'm sorry that God made me white. And I take care of my family . And I don't blame everyone else for my problems. That I did not let a handicap stop me from living.
Do you liberals feel any better?

Only when they beg for it  If you will notice, my "bashing" has been in response to attacks by liberals. Sorry if this is offensive, but calling people racist simply because they don't agree with you is both wrong and apparently typical of liberal behaviour - at least as showcased in this forum.

On your other point, sure - there is value in reflecting on ones motives and seeing if we are part of the solution or problem, and I might add, to see if there is a problem. But somehow I doubt you take such advice to heart from your first comment, and somehow doubt other notable liberals likewise believe it. So who are you preaching too?

pjmrt, if you are done quoting a Cosby speech to a black audience, would you care to answer my question now. Do you believe that the economy is as big as it can possibly be? That the only way blacks can possibly become better off is through wealth distribution? That if blacks become more wealthy it will cut into what you have? You are great at bashing liberals and blaming all the problems of the world on others, liberals, blacks, Jesse Jackson, anybody but you. Do conservatives ever take personal responsibility for their actions? Do they ever answer questions?

You confuse Cosby's statements as bashing liberals. What he is doing is bashing bad behaviour. Thaere is an immense differnce. Bill Cosby is as liberal as they come.

Not to toot my own horn, but I have posted several examples in the past - including pictures - as evidence of my community service efforts with minority education, community policing, handicapped children, and reducing world-wide infant mortality.

Here is one of me getting the 2004 Distinguished Service Medal from the Portland Chief of Police last month. Need anymore proof.

Do conservatives ever answer questions? - at least as often as the modern liberals (as said before, the true liberals of the past would be ashamed to be associated with current liberals, hense the title of modern liberal). Take resposibility for our actions? - absolutely. Funny question from you given that you advocate anything but that. Bashing liberals and blaming all the problems on others? - pure rubbish and I think you know it. Its your side that seems to want to put the blame on others. If you read the statements by Bill Cosby, you'd see that is what he is saying. Bashing? Its no more or no worse than what you dish out yourself.

I don't know if Cosby is a liberal, moderate, or conservative - and I suspect neither do you really. Immaterial. Bill Cosby's speaches are saying the same things black conservatives have said for years. He championing personal responsibility. If you do not choose to take school seriously and if you don't choose to speak the english language (as opposed to Ebonics) - then you have no right to complain about no job or only a minimum wage job. Doesn't sound like any liberal I ever heard - and certainly not those interviewed in the article which started the thread. Can't blame the whites... Not my words, his. If a white person had said this, you, Bogy and most every liberal would be sounding cries of rascist. In fact you're doing so simply for disagreeing with the statements in the article. If your side was not so predictable, we conservatives might take you a little more seriously.

    Yes, I do. He is.

And where did I ever say I disagree with Cosby or criticize him for what he says. I do agree with him. I have said so the last time this issue came up her months ago. He has identified part of the problem. Again, I ask you what are YOU doing to be part of the solution?
