hmmmm...... Not sure. I forced it at 10pm.
No, mine did too. I just got home around 2:45, and first thing I did was download the CE on my H21. I was confused, because on the download screen, the version it was downloading matched the current version up at the top. So it was pushed before I got home.
Mine also was pushed, too bad they didn't fix the 771 problem though.
Mine was also pushed. Nice of them to push crap that doesn't work with the the SWM (which I have). Very nice to wake up to 771 on ALL recievers in the morning. Thank you directv.
Hey you do realize this is a beta program right? Seriously it doesn't always work perfect from the start. Keep that in mind before spewing this early in the morning please .
Next someone will complain the W7 isn't working perfectly for them sheeh :lol::lol:
I had to pull the plug on mine again. I also have an SWM and the whole system still crashes. Hopefully next time we will get some warning about a push coming so I can hurry to resetup
Well I think I have the right to complain when they pushed out a version with the same "major" problem that the previous version had. Don't push something with major problems that were not addressed.
Sorry but don't agree. That's what beta testing is all about, they could push out code that bricks the box, that's part of the deal. If you're that upset I think you should ask a mod to remove your box from the program and then just go with the normal CE testing.
I agree totally
Agree thats part of being on the trail
Part of the testing process is .. well .. testing. If the code were ready then it would be part of a national release .. Please remember the following key points ..
The CE release firmware has only gone through "moderate" testing - not the entire cycle.
There is an INCREASED chance that a major bug may exist in the version.
There is a chance of DECREASED performance.
There is a chance that your receiver may stop working.
If you download it there are no guarantees of anything.
Your best option for a stable system is to stick to the national release ..
If one can post in this forum, then they must be part of this group, right?
If one isn't ready to test/deal with software at this level, one should ask not to be part of this group, right?
Sorry, I don't agree. You got it pushed because you agreed to be a beta tester. That is what testing is about. As of right now I don't this problem. But, I did not check this receiver today.
Yes, I agree with you.
I would think so.
As a member of the 200 group, I think the rollout of the CE and including the -100, hasn't turned out that well.
In hindsight, I think the 100 group should have gone down the same road as with the 200. After this, then the CE release should have come.
I miss how my 200 worked in test compared to the CE.
I've lost count of the number of CEs with MRV, but have yet to see any major improvement in basic functions of my H21 [the CE has been a step backwards] or any improvements in MRV. It still randomly breaks up without using trickplay, with a hardwired connection.
Thinking back to Friday night when I downloaded the new CE for the H21 I had to reset my SWM's PI. Then I DL the CE ... so I believe my box was also pushed.
I totally understand the logistics of CE, I am happy to do it. But this is how I read it:
06 - H21-100, SWM compatibility--will not affect other boxes
So we all know that D* knows about the SWMLine and H21 box issue but it has still affected my other boxes.
So I have since rebooted all my DVRs systematicly. Did the one HR21 first, the other one second and then the H21. All are on current CE and seem to be doing ok! Both Saturday morning, Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon I had to unplug the PI. I then did the systematic reboot Sunday afternoon.
Just wanted to tell my side of the story and let D* (and the board) know what's going on on my end of things.
Remember, I am not bashing the CE process, I like participating and hope my experience helps get things right!
What I find depressing is that the 771/SWM problems still exist. Doug says we should be testing the basic functionality of the boxes first then MRV functions. But what do we get, the one press autotune and still have a bug that makes the box basically unsable due to 771's on it's self and causing problems with other receivers on the same SWM. To me that's a MAJOR bug and should have been fixed in the last CE, forget adding a new feature.
As a member of the group that was going to get early testing I wouldn't care if D* wanted to do a forced upgrade once a day to get code out for our feedback. Once a week between new code releases IMHO is slowing the process down if they want to get this feature out as a NR. Just let me know when a push would occur since right now the H21-100 is unplugged and just sitting there waiting for this Friday to see if they have a fix this time.
I understand we are testers and I DID test the CE on the first go round for the H21-100. The SWM 771 error that knock all recievers offline were reported by me (and others) in the appropriate CE issues forums. I can't exactly test anything when it brings down my entire directv system.
I complained because the reported major issue was not addressed before pushing out the 2nd CE.
Certainly understandable, but not everything gets "fixed" right away .. it's a process. I don't actually know the details of this particular issue, but I'm sure DIRECTV is working towards getting this resolved .. sometimes note everything gets fixed between iterations.
