    Let me re-itterrate...

Please do NOT bring any more attention to the HR21
Other then the Mods.... I don't need all 40 of you saying there is no more information about the unit..... 40 of you saying there is no more information, pretty much CONFIRMS there is more information.

Also... If you participate in those threads, you may... accidentally, or unintentionally tiptoe over the line and post something you should not.

So please... no one other then the mods (And even that should be limited), should participate in any of those HR21 based discussions.

I don't mention the HR21 anyplace but back here and just ignore the HR21 talk on the boards - I've posted in one or two early threads where it was mentioned, but only to discuss other items that were also included, but it's better to ignore them completely, even when there are other issues being discussed. I have to double and triple check whenever I post and use the dvr's designation to make sure I'm not typing HR21 in an HR20 thread.

We seem to just give away the SW. Customers actually pay big $$ for those little pieces of sand.

My comments above were directed to the entire group... not just an individual.

I know that Doug takes these steps very carefully, and he's not in trouble.

    azarby,
yea, you work real hard putting together something that looks good, works great, has internal warning systems, knows how to fix itself, then the software guys get hold of it and make it compatible to specs that are broken by design. It just isn't fair. Ask VOS!

Not our software - customers pay big bucks for it - more than for most of the CPUs. But the idea of our software is to make the hardware look better, so we're both valuable.

    Bainbridge...
I called Directv today to deactivate my R15 (replaced by the HR21). The CSR saw the HR21 on my account and knew what it was (he was fairly new and it had been part of his training). This was the first one he had actually encountered, however. He asked me about it and I said that I was part of a test group (hopefully giving away nothing I shouldn't have).

Not surprising considering there are only about 25 of them outside of D* testing.

Would be neat if we could help test the D10 satellite.

They have our access card info from the H21 and HR21 special tests. Small group.

Would be easy way to test the D10 signal all across America with 25-50 people.

    All ready!

    Just a thought ...

You can bet that they already have their own paid internal testers right smack in the middle of each spot beam area. These would be more than adequate to verify coverage of the national feeds. Why would they want to involve this bunch of misfits?

Obviously you're talking about me.

Since the HR21's only have the original firmware so far, I suspect we still have to get that first update to support whatever is needed to properly communicate with the D10....I'm sure the base code is there, but we probably need some "polish" as to assure some level of stability (no reboots or BSOD) that would be of value for testing purposes.

Since the HR21 is already equipped to handle the B-Band signals properly, I highly doubt that any software update is needed before we can receive signals from D10.
