    Dan,

I believe the Superfan was a selling point to MLB to get exclusive rights. After what went down the cable industry last spring, they to me just left the Superfan stuff up. Since it's not exclusive and it seems that Direct TV has already shown there hand as far as the NHL and NBA packages go, there is no reason for them to charge anything over $40 for the year. Like I said, they are just covering the cost to produce there show, the Strike Zone channel, and maybe that mix channel. IMHO, I don't think the cost to produce that went up 100% in the last year. I could be wrong though.

But Dan, if it was $99 I would pay it to. :(

Strike Zone Channel must be in HD next year in order for me to buy in. Not at $99 though. :nono: Mix channel (no need for HD here) is nice to follow the progress of other games.

I find myself watching more of the Red Zone Channel, than an actual game so it is safe to assume, at least for me, that I would watch more of the Strike Zone Channel if in HD.

Why trade him at all....wouldnt you like to see him in the new stadium......take some of that small market revenue sharing money you are getting and pay him what he's worth.

$99? That would scare me away. I spent the extra $40 and loved the DH games and the Strike Zone channel...but would be hard pressed into convincing the missus to spend more than that on it.

can we breakdown exactly what the $40 got us in 2007 for superfan? I dont recall whether you needed that for HD viewing in 2007.

Yes, the $40 was needed to get HD in '07. In '06 HD was included in the base EI...all 1-2 games a week.

Yes, you needed Superfan last year to get the HD games on channels 730-731 ( I think those where the channel #'s) and you got the Strike zone channel for $40.

You beat me to it 66Stang!!! :)

I agree with you that was probably the reason. However IF there is a charge again for HD feeds just like the NFL ST I'll pay it no matter what. I can't watch sports in blurry SD anymore. That being said I'm with you the charge will probably stay the same as last year which was $39.

The first month was under a free preview. When it officially ended, they left the HD games open for a few more weeks. By the end of May, you either had to pay or you wouldn't see any HD EI games (not even on 95/96).

Here's my wishlist for this season incluing superfan extras.

    1. All HD feeds made available
    2. OTA games and OTA HD feeds available
    3. Rogers Sportsnet, TSN, Cox4 HD feeds
    4. StrikeZone Channel in HD
    5. If possible, in-house game feeds of non-televised games (similar to MLB.TV)
    6. If possible, Fox's weeky regional Saturdaygames HD and for those not in HD to be atleast on the HD channel in 480p 16:9.

If they bring out the StrikeZone channel in HD, I'll never leave my house next summer!

I really got addicted to that, even in SD...

Me too, I wasn't a huge fan of it at first but it really did a good job of picking up games in the action. Also probably the best channel for good baseball highlights aside from your local RSN. Sportscenter's highlights don't do justice.

Aaagh, then all will be fine. When Sat Racer uses phrases like "You guys will be very happy" he is taken care of us.

    Much appreciated Satelliteracer. :)

Yeah, Satelliteracer is teasing us and making us wait 4 months to find out what he's talking about. ;-)

If I had to guess, we will get most all MLB games in HD. My questions were really:
    1. Will we have to pay $40 to get the HD games (as part of SuperFan), or
    2. Will we have a chance of dual feeds for most of the games?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.. Thanks for your help, Satelliteracer!

Oh, yeah? Will it make the Giants suck less? Will it include Superstation WGN in HD? Thought not. So it won't make me very happy. :)

I hear your pain about the Giants. The good news is...the Bonds era is over. Now the front office can focus on the team aspect of things instead of trying to get 8 guys to play around Barry. If only they could get 9 guys with Omar's heart, they would be something to watch.

Sat racer...I really felt very happy with the value of last year's package. Knowing they were limited with HD, they certainly had a decent amount of HD last year. I work from home and I really miss having baseball on in the background. Here's looking forward to April and thanks for the tid-bit to keep us excited.

    Huh?

You don't need EI to get WGN and it will probably be in HD by then...
