    According to Wikipedia and I know it's not a reliable source but it states that Soapnet is ceasing operations December 2013. It also says that Charter and Uverse are removing it from it's lineup in December. What does this mean for Directv and what new sd channel could Directv replace it with if this happens.

    directv can use the bandwidth saved by it or save it for an upcoming RSN channel.

    They shouldn't quickly jump to replace it's SD bandwidth. They should take advantage and compress the other channels on that same transponder LESS so it improves picture quality.

    However what likely would happen is that it would be used for an Infomercial channel until a new use case is determined. There's money in infomercial channels... there's not in fine tuning SD picture quality.

    Be nice to get a music channel that actually played music videos. Though I'd want that to be in HD.

    ABC/Disney partnered with Univision for Fusion. Perhaps that will have more presence on systems from cable and satellite companies..

    Inre Soapnet, it occurs to me 1 customer of mine has a dedicated D12 autotune to her story so her VCR can record it everyday for her.

    And yes, it was a huge PITA setting that up because her husband would come home for lunch while she was at work, and he would mess up the machinery somehow, and then she would call and scream at ME.

    I am thinking this Soapnet thing is SOMEHOW going to be a problem for me from this lady.

    no need to now.

    Not one of my favorite clients, she has an odd 'driving and driven' demeanor, and a luddite fear of techy stuff.

    I went to High School with her husband, he was a cool jock back then, nowadays, anyone who knew him then thinks of euthanasia to end his suffering.

    At least with Soapnet off the air, I don't have to worry about the VCR croaking and having to jinn up a replacement. But I wonder (and fear) what she might demand I do to somehow compensate for Soapnet getting pulled.

    {shudder}
