My answer to this question is simple..

Who cares! With luck American Idol will collapse with his departure.

Largest non sports waste of bandwidth in history.

Of course, feel free to disagree...

American Idol is a great program. It is not great enough for me to make room for it in my viewing schedule, any more (we did watch it for a few years), but just because I don't value something as highly as others value it doesn't mean they are wrong. We're all different, and to deny the value of something because of personal indifference or animosity for it doesn't make sense.

The show can be good even without Simon. Even with ratings 1/3 less than last year's rating, the show is still going to win its time period. And given both that the show is relatively inexpensive to produce, and even less expensive without having to pay Simon, the show is still a worthy entry on Fox's schedule even at 1/2 its current ratings.

From the little I've seen of her, I do think that Kara can provide the realistic aspects of judging that Simon has traditionally provided. So I don't think they really need to replace Simon.

I do watch it, but I record it and watch it the next day. That way I can FF through all the fluff and bios (I'm not interested in their backgrounds...after all I'm not interested in adopting the entrants). I can reduce the hour show to about 15 minutes or less.
IMO all dedicated sports channels are a major waste of bandwidth but I don't want those channels or televised sports eliminated just because I'm not the least bit interested in either (except for the Olympics), there is something for everyone. Ya don't like it then don't watch it.

Not to mention the closest bar....

He's almost the opposite of Simon...so he'd never make the cut.

They're gonna need more of a Pit Bull type. ;):D

I used to agree with you on the translator bit, but then I saw Sharon on F Word and there was a video of Ozzie pleading Gordon to teach her to cook. I had to watch it twice as I couldn't believe it. He was perfectly understandable. Maybe it was his Parkin Syndrome.

It would be nice if they could find an American, but they need someone that has a personality like Simon and the Brits are best at telling it like it is.

So Ozzie may not need a translator, but he will need his GPS enabled cell phone to find the studio and stage, "This is new".

Are you implying Stewart is abrasive, insulting, and opinionated? Like Simon?
