I tried several different setups and could not get HD MRV to work. DECA had a few bugs in the beginning, with skippy video. But these maint releases seem to have fixed my issues.

I'll throw in my own 2 cents, even though it barely related to topic.. Linksys flashed with DD-WRT firmware :) Turns your $50 router into a $200 router

Guys - based on my call to DirecTV today, it appears to me the higher $199 whole-home service upgrade may be due to the fact they are pushing the wireless Cinema Connection kit router as part of installs now. I don't like this development. I just would want/need a internet DECA hooked to a router.

    from Directv:
Kit includes a Linksys wireless adapter for connecting your DIRECTV Plus HD DVR to the Internet. This lets you enjoy our DIRECTV CINEMAplus service at no additional charge. MSRP $99.99.

Note: You will need to have an existing wireless router. Only one wireless adapter is needed for each HD DVR that you want to connect to the Internet. Actual model may vary.

I need to get this clarified also. I have a Hard Wired Connection from my Router to one of my DVRs now,I don't like Wireless Idea.

What does having a "good router" have anything to do with "good (or bad)" MRV via Ethernet? You don't even need a router, just a $10 switch if you have a wired network and not even that if all you have are 2 DVRs. The only thing the router gets you is the DirecTV "Cinema." It has no effect on MRV. If you're referring to a WIRELESS MRV connection that's another story of course but just for MRV no router works fine. My wired Ethernet MRV has been flawless. I don't know how DECA could make it any "better" then it is now. Since I have all HR20-100's DECA would just add another rats nest of wires, splitters & filters to the mess that is already there.

I was not talking MRV via ethernet. I was referring to hooking up your MRV/RG-6 DVR cloud to the internet via a router or switch. DirecTV seems to be pushing you "have to get the Cinema Connection Kit" now if you order the whole home DVR service upgrade.

The price offered to installers to install the system is still around $70.00. Anybody with any skill will still do other things before attempting the latest (buggy) rigs. One could spend more than $70.00 just on cable and fittings, not to mention vehicle costs, etc. And that is before bogus back charges & certification costs...yes...certification cost to pay to learn how to install this crap!

Not sad the price is going up...still distrust them dudes!

Used it on my WRT54G routers and now my WRT160N routers. Awesome firmware.
