    I am a D* subscriber.

I get great service from D* and my equipment works fine.

I hope it will be D*.

But I think it will be E* (if you mean national HD channels.)

Dish will. They always have and will continue to be the leader in National HD channels.

You need to build up a complete setup before you compare prices.

E* doesn't offer TMC in HD yet. If they did, it would be between a rock and a hard place because it would be part of the AT250 package on the one hand and part of the SHO package on the other.

Encore HD only lasted for a few months and was shut down in 2005.

It's largely a matter of which channels you want. Directv has YES in hd. Dish doesn't have it in sd, much less hd. That makes my choice easy.

They haven't always been the leader, and come September, they'll be passed up by DirecTV.

Hopefully the sleeping giant doesn't stumble as it wakes up from its three year HD coma.

It's only a three year national HD coma. They've been lighting up MPEG4 locals all around the country, so it's not like this is all new stuff for them. I think the launch of the new channels will be relatively flawless.

And we should care who is the leader because.......? Regardless, we all win.

    What HD channel is YES?
I have DirecTv HD package and I don't see it listed. It is not in the 70-79 listing.
In fact I haven't even heard of it.

It's a RSN, and for now you can only get it in HD if you live in New York.

    Friendly amendment accepted.
Doing CONUS Ka band DBS is something that hasn't been done before. According to Tibber, they tried it with one of the Spaceway satellites and it didn't work out.

That's true, but the Spaceway sats weren't designed to do it. It was a test, and it turned out that they couldn't handle it. D10 and D11 were designed to do CONUS Ka from the start, so I can't imagine that they'll run into the same difficulties that they did with Spaceway.

loves2watch - I tried to send the following PM but it bounced. Can you reply in this thread?

"I see you are in Southern New Mexico and you say you get all of the OTA networks and in HD when broadcast in HD. Do you mind telling me what channel numbers and from what city? I'm in the SW corner and all we have are translators with Albuquerque stations, 1 Las Cruces PBS, and one ABC from El Paso, none of which are digital or HD."
