Why can't D* offer us, a la carte, ST RED ZONE for a 1-time fee?!?

No, im not saying if you dont have ST switch, Im saying if your not taking advantage of all the sports programming that E* dont have like FSN's E dont have, Nascar Hotpass, NCAA Mega March Madness, MLB EI, NFL ST, Lots of extra Golf and Tennis coverage. If you are not using any of that then why not switch?

If E* has your locals to then they might be a better fit. I know I would be interested in that 4 tuner DVR they been working on but am a big sports lover so I can not switch.

Sorry. You chose them as a provider. Personally I think D* is way better but mostly because of sports programming. Never the less they are a better fit for me. I understand that they are not the best fit for everyone thats why I suggested changing providers. Im not against E*. They just would never work for me that sall. However I think satellite is for everyone as Cable is the biggest rip off ever. So find a provider that works for you and be happy. I know I have! :D

I suspect that most NFLST subscribers are hard core enough to still buy the full package even if the a la carte RZC were available as it is elsewhere.

I for one would love to see it. We watched the free preview of NFLST in Week 1, and we wound up watching RZC a lot when there were no games going on we much cared about or when games we watched were in a commercial or halftime. We thought it was cool and we would have ordered it as a standalone option but not enough to buy the full package. At the time I didn't even realize that many other people not with D* had that option...

And just how much would you be willing to pay for this channel for a season?

I remember when my wife and I were talking about it and we figured somewhere in the $50-100 range. Even at the $99 price point we would have considered it, and at $50 we would have done it for sure.

Thats what I am talking about. People willing to pay $100 for that channel but not willing to pay $159 for the entire ST with SF. I get all games in HD for the full season for $159. Thats a steal.

I'm willing to pay $159 for that but not if it requires another 2-year commitment. I also don't like playing the CSR roulette and "retention" games required to get the deal. I hate haggling.

Wouldnt it of been worth it? There is no new 2 year agreement to get that deal.

The NFL REDZONE channel was "born" out of the NFL D* TV contract renewel , ALL the revenue generated from the channel from cable and Dish and all other carriers-Goes to a strike pool for the NFL team owners.

That is the real reason ONE channel was born out of D* exclusive NFL contract.

D* will never off just the one channel -unless they lose the whole ball of wax.

BUY IT if you can afford it -Stop crying if you can't--NO bail out for you!

Has anyone who currently has NFLST and DirecTV RedZone Channel watched the NFL RedZone channel? Side by side? Is there any comparison to which one is better?

What if DirecTV offered the NFL Network RedZone Channel?

I only use the RSNs for college hockey, but I prefer the HR2* and R22 DVRs to E*s..

how many people would cancel sunday ticket if directtv added this channel to the sports pack for instance?

This is never going to happen, so stop complaining about it. Directtv isnt that stupid.

What if they charged $49 for Redzone.
For every 1 person that then cancels ST, Directv needs to sign 6 people for Redzone to compensate....doesnt seem that unrealistic.
+ the people that are leaving Directv because Dish or Fios now has Redzone might stay with Directv then therefore saving Directv lost $$.

Exactly. Give more reasons for people to stay or come to DIRECTV. :)

Would be very interesting marketing analysis. :)

    Cheers,

dish is charging 5 bucks a month for the sportspack and the red zone is included. why would you pay 49 bucks for one channel?

If the $49 is one-time or once per year it would still be cheaper than $60/year on Dish. :)
