I Live In Mississippi and I am currently watching the Mississippi State vs Georgia game on 648-1 in HD. I wonder if the only reason I am able to get the game in HD is because Mississippi State is playing. I wasn't home for the earlier game Kentucky and Ole Miss so I don't know if I was able to get that game in HD or not. I just got home. But Channel 648-1 is Definately on for me and I was shocked to see it turned on. This is the First S.E.C. Raycom game I have EVER gotten in HD. I am hoping they keep the Channel on for tonight's games as well. I also can get Memphis' Channel 30 that is carrying the game in SD. So I don't know what the deal is. I can get the S.E.C. Games on 4 Channels. FSSouth Channel 648, SD Channel 648-1 in HD FSSouth, Channel 30 WLMT Memphis, SD, and also 653 Sun Sports HD. This is VERY Weird.

I'm thinking the blackout has more to do with whether a local channel is carrying the games than where you are. But for some reason, while 648 is blacked out in New Orleans, I can watch the SEC Tournament in HD on 653 - only difference being that 648/-1 lists the actual game participants in the title an 653 shows College Basketball as the title. Who knows, all part of the mysteries of RSN/Sports Pack blackouts.

You'll have your choice of WSBK in Boston OR WPME in Portland/Auburn, ME or if all else fails ESPN360.com or raycomsports.com. Online sources might provide a better pic than SD.

Now I don't get this Crap. Channel 648-1 FSSouth Alternate HD was on for me for the earlier game in the S.E.C. Tournament but for the night game of Alabama and Vanderbilt the Channel is blacked out. I have Sun Sports Channel 653 in HD but earlier I had both Channels on. What Is Going On?

If you're in SEC territory, the games tonight may be on another channel in your market (even if OTA SD). If not, I have no idea. I'm in Sun Sports territory and as such games are coming in OK here.

If I'm a big-time basketball recruit not living in SEC territory why would I ever consider an SEC school? My parents and friends could not watch me play because the SEC games are almost always blacked out.

I wanted to watch the LSU/Kentucky game this morning and it is blacked out on every D* channel. I live in California, have Directv, HD and Sportspack but not ESPN Full Court. That is a joke because of picture quality in SD so I don't have it. The SEC has to look no further than it's TV contracts to see why they suck in basketball. No exposure beyond the South = Poor recruiting.

    Sure.

Anyway, this is the wrong thread for smack-talking anything the lack of first-round conference tournament HD coverage.

Yeah, they suck. Kentucky has no tradition in hoops. And the recent Florida national championships never happened. LSU has been to the final 4 recently as well, and other teams are nationally competitive and typically the conference does fine in the big dance.

The SEC is having a down year, but they do not "suck" in basketball.

    Geesh.

I've been real frustrated with ESPN Full Court and ESPN Gameplan (CFB). Why are the games not in HD? More, why are the games available in HD, yet not available for us to watch if we have both the Fox Sports Package and the Full Court? Seems a bit dumb to me that we're paying for both yet can't get an HD feed for the games. The best part is when you turn it there, it says it is blacked out on this channel and asks you if you want to turn it to the alternate channel despite it not being in HD.

Yes that is what I do not understand at all. Almost every game i've watched the announcers say "This game is available in HD" But yet there aren't any HD Feeds Avaialable except for the few SEC games that were on in HD from Sun Sports that I was able to receive Thursday and Friday night. And even then it was a toss up if the game was going to be available on the channel or not. FSSouth had the day games in HD but the night games were not available in HD. It Makes No Sense and DirecTv and these conferences need to work out a deal for next year so that ALL the Conference Tournament games be available in HD for next year.

I believe the reason why we get no HD with Full Court is that the package is owned by ESPN, and D* can only provide to us what ESPN gives them. They still have to honor the out-of-market blackout rules of the SEC. Even though the games may be available on Sun Sports in HD, D* can only give us out-of-market subscribers the feed that ESPN provides. (Ever notice that ALL of the commercials on the FC channels during the games are for ESPN?)

The MLB, NBA, and NHL packages are different because they are owned by the leagues themselves, and they give D* the right to just use the RSN feeds. ESPN insists that D* uses only the feeds that ESPN provides for them.

So basically it is ESPN that is preventing us from getting the games in HD...not D*.

I think you are dead on about this. It still sucks and each year I hope that Full Court and Game Plan will be in HD finally, only to get crappy video that is usually worse than streaming on teh web. IF ESPN does not get some HD going soon I will just stream it all and forget about those packages.

ANd I definitely know all teh commercials are ESPN. I wish they would show more than the 5 or 6 they rotate. We have watched probably 30 or more FC games this year during hte regular season and then a few more during Championship week and I can pretty much recite the entire stupid NBA RV commercial along with them. The Penguin and Devil screwing with the thermostant and the Devil going down on the elevator are still pretty funny though.
