Harsh! He just forgot to change the month.
That 126.96.36.199 is SO mischevious. :nono:
I wish they would start now!
If D* holds true to past performance the channels will be lit up, validated and airing for a week before the "announcement".
Granted, it's irritating but it sure heads off failing to meet the announced date when you do it that way.
It's a lot more irritating if they name a date in advance and then miss it.
Earl why do you always ruin our fun:lol:
Pfft. Yeah. Like Earl would know
Remember, Wikipedia is edited by regular folks like you and me, and doesn't claim to have any special inside knowledge, unlike some people here who do.
Maybe Wiki has been edited . I could not find the reference to Sept 7. It now reads September 16:
Thats what I hate about Wikipedia, ANYBODY can edit the info! It definately has changed since I looked at it 15 min ago!!!
I was called on Sunday to check my setup...I told'm I got'm 5 by 5! Now I wait...reminds me of my military days of hurry up and wait!
You got a call? Only one?!? I've gotten at least one call every week since late July regarding the BBC's. I got it! I've had them hooked up since day one! You can stop calling, D*!
It does serve one purpose, however, as it is a great test for the CID function on the HR20.
As I said on another thread I don't trust anything I read on wikipedia. Just yesterday I read that an employee from Sony edited the Halo 3 wikipedia page to say that Halo 3 won't look any better than Halo 2. Also a couple of weeks ago an EA employee was found to be removing negative, but factual information from the Electronics Arts wikipedia page.
I'm sure nobody on this forum would vilify D* if they missed an announced go live date. No matter how full of tentative/planned disclaimers the date might be.
Edit: Woot! My 100th post.
I love D :love1: But I'm sure D wants to be sure before they give a date
This posting title is misleading, that article in no way says there will be new channels on the 7th. Its says SPECULATION.
I seem to recall checking Wikipedia one day and noticing that the elephant population had tripled in the last six months:

From what we heard before, they are obviously not going to slam us with every new HD channel on the same day. They are probably going to trickle down over time.
So does anyone know roughly when the FIRST channel will show up? A few days from now, or is it more likely next week sometime?
A D* manager called me yesterday to deal with another issue I had and at the end of the conversation he mentioned that they are launching the new HD channels on 9/15. He told me that "one morning they'll just show up", which leads me to believe that they will be there all at once.
I know sometimes it is the media to blame but I sure hate it when you get all hyped about something that isn't going to happen for ages. Computer games come to mind. They will promote a game and put out trailers and have reviews showing how great and revolutionary it is then 3 or 4 years later when it comes out it is no longer revolutionary and doesn't look any better than all the other games. It is much better to not expect it and then have it be a pleasant surprise than to get your hopes up only to be let down because it can never meet all the hype.
What I am saying is that while it is fun to gossip and talk about the coming HD after it has been around a few weeks you will be so used to it that it will be like you have always had it and then we will just have to find something else to anticipate.
