Will DirecTV ever offer a sign up bonus other than NFL Sunday Ticket?

I'm not interested in NFL Sunday Ticket as a bonus. I figure if DTV loses the broadbcast rights that they would offer something I would actually watch.

So does DISH. I was hoping they would offer something in place of Sunday Ticket.

That's what JoeTheDragon was saying. They offer the premiums. During football season you'll see Sunday Ticket as well as the premiums but the premiums are usually offered to new customers regardless. Free Sunday Ticket is a good deal...and it's free.

What do you think would be better?

Something I would watch. Like 100 free On-Demands. If they lose the rights to NFL I would think they would have to offer some other wow factor to replace it.

It seems like this topic comes up once a week lately.

One reason they use NFL ST is that it's an exclusive. Another is that they pay the NFL a flat rate for NFL ST, meaning that they can give it away free without incurring any additional costs. If they give you a free movie on PPV or on demand, they have to pay the movie studio. When you subscribe to HBO for free, they still have to pay HBO.

I believe they offered something with the MLB package in it awhile back for new customers. Also dont new subs sometimes get coupons for 2 free PPV's?

Again, NFL ST does not actually cost them anywhere near $600 to offer it to you for free.

Plus, VOD is a huge moneymaker for them but I doubt that anyone would ever go through 100 VOD titles in a year or more. Getting you in to buy VODs is the whole point of trying to get you to sign up.

What about NHL Center Ice, or NBA League Pass.... Those are comparable pckg prices to Sunday Ticket...

I agree with PK 6301 when i was trying to sign up they wouldnt give me a deal for nba league pass I asked for credits to kind of offset the price and they said no,I said if costco can give $200.00 visa card and best buy can give $150.00 best buy gift card why cant tey just give me credits for 6 months andthey didnt want to do it even DISH is giving an IPAD 2 which i would rather have than nfl sunday ticket. strange i thought they would work with me mor, guess i'll stay with verizon for 1 more year, I would try DISH but i dont trust them because they're always removing channels and i want to make sure they win their lawsuit against the broadcast networks over the primetime anytime feature!
