I see that TBS is showing lots of MLB playoff baseball this fall. Is it just a matter of crossing our fingers that the games will be available in HD?

It is bad enough that Chip Caray will be doing the games, but if they are only available in SD, I will be ticked.

Has TBS even announced an HD network?

By most expectations, most of the new HD networks won't be up until September... that would already get you into the LCS... which would be on Fox I believe...

TBS has. I can't recall the date, but I remembered it would be in time for the playoffs. However, I don't think it is doing playoff games until 2008.

TBS (and TNT for days there are more than one in a time slot) are doing the games that ESPN had the last few years. FOX has the ALCS and TBS has the NLCS.

    The schedule is here.

It's not a camera issue. TBS just doesn't have an HD channel to begin with.

They do in Atlanta, or they did until this year when they stopped showing the Braves.

Yeah, but WTBS is essentially a separate channel. Having an ATSC transmitter for your local station is completely different from having an HD setup for your national channel.

Even if TBS is not ready to launch the fulltime HD channel in early OCT, I suspect they will have (or be able to rent) the equipment to produce in HD...they might be on channel 95, but I'm willing to bet these games will be in HD.

I'm not thrilled about TBS having the playoffs, but whatever...just going to have to deal with it. I certainly hope these games are on 95...I'd like to see them in HD.

They had the NFL Network HD games on channel 95 despite not carrying NFL Network HD. I cant see why they cant do the same thing for the playoff games.

The difference is that the NFL Network HD channel existed, but DirecTV didn't have the bandwidth to carry the channel full time. So they just put the HD games on 95. Once D10 is up, we'll have NFL Network HD 24/7.
