It's amazing! I spent some time with some folks in that situation. They could afford all the TV or really anything they wanted but they just chose a different style of life. In some ways I admired it, in other ways I was bored and wondered how they killed time.

I have a coworker who doesn't have a TV. He does have cable internet for the computer, but they choose not to have a TV. As far as killing time, he has 6 kids so he has no time.

Probably they same way they did in the centuries leading up to the time in the 1950's when TV's started becoming widespread.

I like my TV and DVR's as much as the next guy, but we can go days without turning anything on. We'll go camping, bike riding, play pool, swim in the other kind of pool, play games, actually talk to each other without distractions, blah blah blah, a regular Walton family

I could easily see using more than one DVR TV to get around the HR2x's two major shortcomings - the lack of DLBs and the 50 limit on series links.

I use PiP to mock the Sports mix senario. If something big happens on one screen I full screen it. I could get away with H2x for that but I too like the DLB of old.

Gotta go with JDubb here. How can you possibly find time to watch everything you have recorded let alone remember which DVR its on? I guess I just spend time on other things and tv when I get a second.

    Yes.

Well, perhaps not per TV, but there are lots of times that I need more than two tuners to record programs that air at the same time. It shouldn't matter to DTV whether they are connected to the same TV.

I currently have 3 DVRs, all of which are connected one way or another to 7 TVs throughout the house. I don't see why the number of TVs I'm using is 's any concern of DTV's.

Because not everyone lives in a single person household. When you have a family of 4 or 5, all with varying tastes, the pitifully small 50 SL limit can get filled up easily on the main TV.

Yep, I have a DVR attached to each TV (3 TVs in the house).

    A) it wasnt much more expensive than getting HD boxes for 2 of the TV (all 3 TVs are HD but I dont see the need for HD in my bedroom from 15'), and Ive had an SD Tivo for 7 yrs now.

    B) I have a 2 yr old and my wife regularly babysits her niece and nephew. So one DVR has a ton of kids stuff on it. Another DVR has my stuff (I watch in the basement so I can turn up the volume without worry of waking everyone) and one DVR has my wifes stuff. We do crossover to each others DVRs a little, maybe to make life a little interesting? change of scenery when watching tv.

Wouldnt have it any other way. I can rest in bed and watch something whenever I want, my sons stuff is readily available for "cool down" time before bed, and my wife can watch her Dope Operas when Im not there.

My in-laws both are stuck on VHS. They try to pawn videos off on us but we dont even have a VCR in our house anymore.

Im not a single person household. My wife and watch different things and we manage to make it with four tuners. It just amazes me that you and others on the board actually record more than 50 things.
