Would it be possible to have a "standby night"?

Something I was thinking about before my morning coffee today....

I'm not convinced that the code upgrades are 100% working when pushed. I told the receiver it was okay to download the code and it didn't do anything until I ended up RBR'ing it. Would it be possible for us to have a scheduled "standby time" to have them push to our receivers while we're awake and in front of them to see if it takes?

Schedule-wise, I'm out of town this weekend but would be available any other time if this sounds like a good idea. Not sure if they can re-push out the current code or have to wait till the next one is ready. What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

I'm pretty sure they could test this in house with their own HR21s. No need for us to test this for them, just so long as we report it to them.

It would be nice to have a 2nd window to get the new updates in case the push fails, as it seems to do so regularly. 192 failed to download for me and I'd love to get up to speed.

I'm just not having a warm and fuzzy with pushes. It could be just me and the way I am though.

A peach Schnapps would solve both the warm and the fuzzy.

In the mean time, we'll see how the next CE push out goes...it should be 2 successful ones in a row. Like you, I missed an earlier one (18E), but it looks like maybe they've fixed things for the future.

That's cool. As long as I know that it's coming at night over a weekend I can be sure that it's in standby.

    Teays...
My question is, and it may have been answered, is why the update doesn't stay in the stream. There are only a limited # of 21's out there, so if our box doesn't get it automatically, then we could report it and force it.

I can't think it is for secrecy as P. Smith already knows its out there.

I know the answer.... but can't tell you.. ;)

There is a very obvious answer to it, and if you guess it... i won't deny it.

I giggled at P Smith, and his request for the information about the data stream... funny thing is... Doug already has it monitored on his site, if you know how to adjust the URL

Guess I'm too tired right now to guess the obvious cause I haven't got a clue

I'm not even sure I know which question he knows the answer to...let alone what the obvious answer is.

He knows why they don't keep the HR21 software in the stream. I would love to know the answer to this, because it just seems so strange to me.

Perhaps there's an off chance that a HR20 might snag it by accident :p

I doubt that's it. I'm guessing that the "NR" version needs to stay in the stream so the factory can pull it when necessary during burn-in testing.
