Just as the question suggests, whether within your local DVR or a combined/unified playlist, would you like and/or use the ability to search or filter (triple-tap search?) to more quickly and easily locate the show you want to watch?

Example - I keep my playlist sorted A-Z, which makes "The Daily Show" cumbersome to get to being several pages down in the list.

Most definitely! My playlist list is like 50 pages long. :(

User folders would be even better ...

I voted "No", because I just don't have enough items in my playlist to make it worth it dealing with the extra complexity. If I had the whole-home DVR feature, making my playlist much longer, I might well feel differently.

I would have no objection to the capability, but I agree also with the concept of user folders. I would certainly like the ability to have selectable lists of whole-home servers/clients (matrix to pick and choose what can stream to what).

I voted yes, but I also have a suggestion...

If they don't want to make it too much harder from a UI standpoint, they could do this:
Include all the playlist items when doing a "smart search" -- kind of like the "AwesomeBar" in FireFox.
It would be nice if it would delineate somehow which search results are from the guide, the playlist, or even also present in the ToDo list.
Maybe even include series links and autorecords that match (to help manage the >50 they'll soon allow, please?)

I'd be happy if they mad the playlist look like an on demand channel, with filters on the left, and the ability to type in a name to filter the results.

However, what I would like most is 1-user creatable folders, and 2-smart folders. Think of itunes and their smart playlists. That's what I am talking about.

I'd be happy if the playlist sort could ignore the leading "The"

Yes. There's no need for the ability to change channels when viewing the playlist, IMO, so triple-tap should be available for this. Also, we should be able to key-in any word in a show title, so we can choose the best word to get to the desired show as quickly as possible.

Hell, YES! I've been beating the dead horse to allow Triple-Tap inside the UPL since about the very first day it was implemented. :)

I don't really have a use for folders but some users might. I would much prefer to see a combined To Do List or Series Manager.

I would like to sort the playlist by DVR.
Show me whats on the local DVR first, then all others in a separate group.

I agree. The unified play list across three DVRs is huge. In my case it might be simpler to filter which DVRs are in the play list.

This is one topic that I have a huge opinion on.

And I'll just repeat what I said in 2009/2010 ... My opinion has not changed in the slightest ... other then that MRV is fabulous, and gets utilized every day, but I just want to see MY stuff.

Just a question for the "NO" votes:

    Why not? Do you:

Like to change channels while looking at the playlist?

Think the added complexity will mess something up?

    Other?

I completely agree. And that I would think should be something easy to rectify!

Maybe that can be step #1?

It'd seem we're not far off that. Since we can filter on the local playlist, it shouldn't be a stretch to list the others, offering to filter on them.

I'd rather a unified To Do list, though.
