I think it has a great chance of being picked up since it's an actual channel and not just a VoD service. And yeah it was announced a while back but this is the first actual advert/commercial they've run for it so it's like finally a reality!

If they put they pull Raw and SD off of USA & Syfy and put them live on their channel, then that'll really increase demand.

UFC is not taking over G4. The FOX deal stopped any talk of that happening.

I am hoping it will be in a base package like NFL Network,MLB Network ect... I hope they won't make us pay extra.

That will definitely not happen, but there is talk of putting Superstars and NXT on there. Plus of course all the old shows like old RAWs, Nitro, Thunder, Smackdown, ECW TV, PPVs, etc.

I thought I read somewhere a while ago that the idea at the time was for WWE Network to be a rebranding of Universal HD (which re-airs RAW/SD on Saturday Nights as it is). If that were the case, then Directv would have it at launch..

I bet it gets added to the Sports Package though, since it would probably increase the demand for that package.

Well, I for one have always wanted WWE's "On Demand" service/channel and DirecTV never picked it up. I don't want a repeat with this channel. We MUST email DirecTV regularly and keep this thread bumped for awareness!

I would expect it to be added, since it has national appeal and isn't regional like the Longhorn network. I know that WWE won't leave USA network since it has to much of a following for that channel. Smackdown on SyFy I know isn't a long term deal and if WWE network went to the basic packages I could possibly see a switch there, but that isn't likely. I would almost bet my life on NXT/Superstars and even the often talked about raw preshow could be on that network since the 1st 2 shows are on wwe.com anyways. Maybe something like PPV preshows/replays of old ppvs/etc. They do broadcast all of their shows in HD and I think that would be something that they would def give the providers access to. Worse case scenario if we got it would be having it in the sports pack, much like the outdoor channel but I don't see that happening.

Here is a quote from longtime WWE announcer Jim Ross on Twitter regarding the network:

“WWE Network will be a channel devoted exclusively to WWE ala NFL or MLB Network. I’d guess it will start in N. America & grow from there.”

So there ya go.. also, it was reported a while back that they had started digitizing and upgrading their old shows to HD specifically for the network so no doubt older shows will be on there.

I wanted the On Demand service. In fact I have it on the FIOS I have in my office. I have zero desire for them having a network. I've read they are creating programs especially for this network and since they try and do everything but wrestling now, and I don't watch the current product it will probably have virtually no appeal to me. Yes, they may show old stuff but I'm one who feels the rotation on demand is doable for watching and recording. There's no way in hell I am going to even try recording a new ep of NWA, Prime Time Wrestling, World Class, Florida, Nitro, Mid Atlantic, etc every day or even once a week.
