    You can lock in at $40 from the Dashboard, too.

    You also can look for deals online.

    Usually they popup a few times a year. Have renewed that way for the last few years (been an XBL sub for a loooooonnnnngggggg time now).

    I wonder if you could buy a bunch of $50 12-month Live membership cards from Best Buy and lock in that price. I mean, are the codes good for "12 months" of membership or "$50" worth?

    The codes usually have an expiration date so you can buy and just activate them one at a time and it should add on to the length of the previous one

    I know someone that did that when a local FYE closed. He was able to even activate expired cards. Don't know if that was a fluke or official policy.

    I would think it may depend on the state your located in. In California gift cards cannot expire per a law a few years ago. I would think the Xbox live cards would be treated the same as gift cards.
