everyone has been on the mark with this topic but a couple of points

MLBN has noting to do with it. Yankees games are not on MLBN x 162 games.

Your local MyTV station has nothing to do with it. Sorry but the Yankees are not on every MyTV station - only in NYC channel 9 WWOR.

ESPN has little or nothing to do with it except when you get a lucky blackout lifted. Same with MLBN and TBS.

Dazed and Confused solved it best. Just like he is in Orlando and cannot get OTA broadcast from Miami you are in Rochester and cannot get WWOR My9 broadcast from NYC and DTV isnt giving it to you. And to add insult they have to black out 633 or whatever YES Plus is - sorry I only watch when yankees lose like last night vs Phillies but I digress. - anyway they black it out cause you should be getting that channel OTA or cable/sat.

I am a new to Direct TV and before I signed up I made sure to ask if I would be able to get WPIX when they showed the Mets games. They assured me that they would be available to me in the Rochester area on an alternate channel when they were on WPIX like they do on Time Warner. Now that I am with Direct TV they are telling me that I am out of luck. They are telling me now that if I sign up for MLB Extra Innings that I would be able to watch these games on WPIX. Does anyone know if this is true or not considering that MLB Extra Innings is for out of market games and not for teams in your own territory?
Direct TV just got back to me again and informed me this time that NO I would not be able watch the Mets games on WPIX on MLB EI. I guess I'll have to keep my superstation package thru Dish for now until I can cancel Direct and go back to Dish.

I was emailing Direct back and forth the past two days about the Mets being blacked out and they had someone call me last night to go over the blackout. After explaining to him the situation he realized that what the customer service representive's had been telling me that indeed they were incorrect and there was no way for me to watch the Mets when they were on WPIX. I explained to him that Time Warner here puts these games on an alternate channel for its customers. I also explained that last year was the first time that Direct had put WPIX on MLB EI for out of market customers and there should be no reason that these games should not be made available for customers in the Mets territory and out of the local NYC area. I also pointed out some other teams when they are broadcast OTA that Direct has these games available for its customers out of the local area on an alternate channel or an RSN. He agreed that it doesn't make sense for these WPIX games not to be available and that he would be looking into it futher. I don't know what will happen but I was very impressed with Direct's quick responses to my question's and that they actually called me up to talk. I was with Dish for over 12 years and never saw their customer service this good and with Direct you actually get people you can understand and seem to care. He also told me it wouldn't hurt if more people called Direct to complain that they don't receive these games. He said that is how WPIX was added to out of market games last year.

If Cable can provide these games, then there's no good reason DirecTV can't. It's almost as if they think it's no big deal, but it's inexcusable that the self-proclaimed "Leader In Sports" can't/won't.

Have you tried getting WB (13.2) OTA for the Yankee games in Rochester? If you can't get WB OTA do you have Roadrunner and a digitial TV? I think most of the MY9 games are on either WB or ABC here in Rochester. There is no such luck with WPIX games for the Mets here in Rochester though. I kept my HD NYC "locals only" with Dish when I switched to Direct last month just for this reason. It costs $9.99 a month but its worth it until Direct picks up these games.
