At the end of the day, this is D*TV's technology which we have been lucky enough to test. We committed to secrecy, except in this thread.

D*TV will make the call as to when the HR21 is "announced", and then the "First Look" piece that Drew2K and I have been working on can be published.

Earl is carefully brokering the timing of everything on the HR21, since it is ultimately D*TV's decision.

I want him to broker an update, asap. Will one of my kidneys speed the process? A few units of blood? 'Cause if the box barfs and tosses out all our recorded programming again, my wife may unilaterally remove me from this CE process with a hammer to the front panel - my front panel AND the HR-21's!

She just has no vision about these things . . . :D

I don't respond to them at all. But, I like reading them and seeing people guess what it will be. It is just fun seeing how off they are or how close they are. :)

 I moved mine to my computer room. So, I don't run into this issue. I am pretty much to only one that uses it and it doesn't matter if it messes up in that room. I kept my HR20 in the family room with the internet connection (for VOD :D )

If it mentions HR21, I run.

I don't want to inadvertently make a bad reference ...

BTW, narrowed my 32" HD LCD search down to one. Samsung 53H. Was set on Sharp D43U but changing mind. Will be hooked to the test H21 (future HR21 :) ) in the bedroom. Headphone jack pushed it over the edge.

In one thread, someone told me that DirecTV should send me an HR21. I just joked about it, saying that I would probably be passed up for that trial just like I was for the other ones.

Of course as a true beta test machine with problems expected I would hope you aren't using the HR21 for anything critical and that the wife isn't using it at all or you have her shows on your main DVR as well. ;)

Me too! Besides, I only have two cable runs to my "big" TV, the other HDTV in the house is up in my son's room that they kids use for gaming and their shows and has only one run of RG6 (*cough*IneedanSWMBAD!*cough*) and so it's there or nowhere if I want to wring it out. But my wife's stuff is MOSTLY in SD at this point in the year so she's backing it up with the R15.

Hah! THERE'S unintentional irony for you, if you guys have ever used an R15 before the recent slate of CE's . . .

I'm using my HR21 as my main machine, no better way to test it than everyday use.

I do however have one of my HR20's recording shows I feel are "can't miss" that the HR21 is set to record just in case.

Interesting. I have everything the exact opposite. I have two HR20's. I use one and my wife uses the other. The HR21 is duplicating what the HR20's are doing. Actually the HR21 is getting more of workout that way.

My HR21 pretty much duplicates my HR20 recordings and then I added some to make sure it records every day.

I don't really record anything on my HR21 anymore, because it's too frustrating to have to restart 3 times while watching a one hour show. I'll resume hardcore testing once we get an update.
