So I'm a new potential DTV subscriber. Ordered an HR34 with new service through a reseller only to be told a few days before my install that the HR34 requires a SWM and I will be charged an additional $235 on top of the $99 for the HR34. When I asked where on their site this was outlined I was told that the HR34 is a "custom install" product and is not covered by their standard install for new subscribers. I've spent hours on the phone with DTV where they have talked in circles and eventually just hung up on me.

I will be filing complaints with the BBB and the Washington state attorney generals office. Is there anyone at DirecTv that I should contact? I posted on their support forums only to have my post deleted.

Dish tells me that all my tv's have to be HDTV's and that I can't add a different receiver right now through them. Can I add one I own to this system?

I wanted to set up an advanced search to record all Jesse Stone movies. I used the following search arguments :-

AALL JESSE STONE TTITLE

This picked up the upcoming Jesse Stone movie on CBS on Sunday May 20th but the "Autorecord" function would not record it.

When I displayed the "View Upcoming" it showed 3 showings of the movie.

The first showing was on channel 390 (which I don't get)
The second showing was on channel 13 (which I do get)
The third showing was on channel 391 (which I also don't get)

I redid the advanced search adding a channel range of channels 3 thru 378 - thus omitting channels 390 and 391. The revised search arguments were:-

AALL JESSE STONE TTITLE CCHAN 3 378

This revision worked and "Autorecord" scheduled the recording on Channel 13

I started a job and about 15 mintues into it an HSP guy rolls in wondering if im installing apt 3.

Yup. For Ms Campbell....Yup.

turns out the Century Link agent tried stealing the sale when the customer had called in to setup internet.......weird. The customer had originaly signed up at Sams club.

Century Link built another account and sent HSP out to do the install.

This guy was a class act.....wow....good thing i dont work for corporate. He asked if i was updating the current dish to swm....NOPE....well you have too....NOPE....why would i do that? Wel it wont pass IV......it wont? sure it will it passes on all the installs ive ever done, many campers with legacy lnbs.

Well then you need to swap to swm 8.....I do? what for? wont pass IV, it wont? why would i switch to swm?? SO when one tenant moves out the other two units would lose service and cause a service call?? WTH would anyone convert a legacy to swm for absolutely no reason, no MRV, no decas involved at all.

Is this really HSP policy??? take out a fool proof system and make it so tenants lose service for 2 weeks when one tenants moves out and takes the power inserter with them?? Wouldnt be that big of deal if HSP wasnt 2 weeks out for service calls.

Then he went on to say how the clear cap lnb wouldnt pass iv as the 99 sat wouldnt have high enough signal.....huh?? Ok i guess if it doesnt i will replace it. NOPE, passed IV, no need to swap out lnb.

WTH, do these guys on know whats in the training videos? They cant even think for themselves??

Glad i dont have to deal with this ****.......

I have two HR24-100s with MRV. If I have both tuners recording on DVR1, will MRV allow me to setup recordings on DVR2 from DVR1? I know I can go to DVR2 and setup 2 additional recordings, but I got the impression from a D* CS, right or wrong, that if both tuners were recording on one DVR; you had the option to setup recording on the other DVR from the first DVR. I tried testing this, but the only choice was to cancel one of the recordings. I never got the option to go to the second DVR. Best wishes!

I had my Directv system installed on 5/8/2012..I cannot say enough right now about the system and the service. I had Dish for over 4 1/2 years, but their customer service has dropped, I lost signal more times than I care to comment about, So i decided it was time to make a switch.
I ordered my system from their website and was able to set-up my install for 2 day later, the installer was scheduled to arrive between 8-12 arrived at 8:45, He was there for 1 1/2 hours because he had to switch out satellite dishes, and run a new cable for internet connection.
I now have to go out a purchase a HDTV. So in a few weeks I will be back asking how to hook up the TV to the DVR.

I Have a HR23 DVR installed.
Thanks in Advance.

I just had a 2H/2J system installed on Monday. PTAT started working Tuesday night. I read that if I setup a timer for a program that is recorded via PTAT, the timer would be skipped and the program would be moved to the user partition after 8 days. All of my timers are setup with padding of 1 min early and 3 mins late.

I have noticed that I see a program icon with a recording symbol in both the My Recordings section and the PTAT section when a program is recording. Does this mean that it is using both the PTAT tuner and another tuner? If so, is this because of the padding?

Thanks!

I've had NHLCI since 1995, and I'm generally happy with it, but I've been considering NHL Gamer Center instead for next season. I have a fast internet connection, a 25" monitor, as well as a good laptop and iPhone 4s. I also like not being tied to DirecTV, even though I've been with them since 1995 as well, because you never know when you'll need to economize ever more in this economy. I've been reading tech sites that have been singing the praises of GameCenter over NHLCI, but I thought I'd solicit opinions here where there are probably more NHLCI afficionados.

Would anyone recommend jumping over to Game Center for the convenience of portability (and the other features) rather than sticking with NHLCI?
