I have 722k hooked to my HD set in the LR. It also feeds TV2 in one of the kids BR. Is it possible to record one channel AND watch seperate channels on both TV1 and TV2 (thus, 3 'active' channels at the same time)? So far as I can tell, that's not possible judging by the fact that whenever we're recording and try to change the channel I get a message saying something to the effect of : "You can't do this. Do you want to stop recording?"... Just got Dish installed so I'm still trying to figure this thing out... Am I missing something?

I was told that if they did not receive them in 30 days I would be charged the cost of the above items. After two weeks and no boxes to ship back I chatted up Dish and was told the boxes are on their way, waited another week and again no boxes. Chatted up Dish again and was told the same thing the boxes are on their way. Waited another week and again no boxes, chatted them up again and was told they are on their way. It has now been over a month and I still have not received the boxes to ship the stuff back, nor have I been charged anything either. Does Dish really not want this stuff back?

I changed to Dish about 2 months ago after having a DirecTivo for 8 years. There are some aspects of the 722K that baffle me. Maybe someone could shed some light.

1. When recording a show, I can choose "view" from the menu, or "start over." View goes to the channel, in live mode. Start over, obviously, starts the show over. When starting over and watching a still-recording show, it will not remember my place if I turn the receiver off and come back. If I come back, the only options are "view" and "start over". Does this happen for everyone? Why does it treat a "still recording" program differently than a recorded program?

2. If you have been watching a live show from the beginning, and decide to record it, pressing record only records from that point onward. This is noted in the options that appear. Tivo used to record whatever was in the buffer, back to the beginning of the show if possible. However, is there a way to say "record this from the beginning" on the 722?

3. If I am watching a show which is still recording even if I am two hours behind live, and I accidentally press "stop", it stops recording, period. No confirmation or warnings, nothing. Does this happen for other people? I like to record hockey and FF through commercials, but I've missed several ends of the games because I accidentally pressed "stop".

My 722 keeps dropping the sports pad for Dish Pass sporting events. It's very frustrating to lose the last 30 minutes of a game, and it seems to be a pretty regular thing.

During football season I just gave up, deleted the Dish Passes and did a search every 9 days since a football team only plays once a week.

But now that we are into basketball season, I'm getting killed on dropped pads, all from Dishpass, none from a regular timer event.

With basketball, teams can play 1-3 times per week or more, so Dishpass is really nice for finding the channels and the team name in the info (the titles are almost always just "college basketball" or something - but it keeps dropping the 3rd hour of a basketball game when the original guide timeslot is 2 hours and I've added an hour.

My Dishpass shows the 3 hour time for the upcoming games, the one hour extension in the timer itself - but everytime it stops after the original guide time is completed - it drops the pad and if you look in the schedule it shows that the event has been completed and shows a 2 hour recording period even though it showed it would record 3 hours just before the timer fires. The other thing I notice is that unlike a regular DVR timer, you have to add the pad - my 722 does not automatically put a 60 minute sports pad on the Dish pass sporting events.

I'm wondering if this is just me considering that I couldn't find anyone else complaining about Dish pass pads getting dropped. I haven't tried it on a non-sporting event, but I would think if this was happening to sports fans there would be a lot of threads on it - but I couldn't find squat on Dish pass timer pad issues.

Is it just me and my wonderful 722?

Help!

I've noticed over the last week or so, that I'm getting video/audio pauses on many channels, both live and recorded.

At first, I only noticed it on TNT, but since then I've seen it on one channel or another almost every night.

I tried resetting the unit, no joy. Then I tried to rewind a bit see if that cleared it up. That got a mixed bag, sometimes it does, sometimes not.

Any ideas, clues or helps for this? Or is it time to think bad box?

Hey all-

New to the externalHDD game... I just got the capability activated last week, and added an external HDD. I did it primarily becuase I was swapping the install locations of a 622 and a 722, and wanted to swap the recordings on them to keep the recordings in their correct "locations" in the house.

So I formatted on the 622, swapped some data to the 722, and then some back. It's current home is on the 722.

A couple of questions:

1) A couple of times when accessing the HDD on the 722, the content doesn't show up. The Availalable Space listed indicates that the drive isn't empty, I just don't get a directory lising. No amount of DVR fiddling will fix this. If I unplug the USB cable, and plug it back in, the problem is fixed again for a day or two.

Is this a drive sleep issue? If so, it seems odd that it doesn't happen after every night when I don't have any activity destined for the external HDD.

2) On the 622, whn the HDD is plugged in, I have a "My Media" folder within the DVR recorded programs listing I can navigate to to see external contents. On the 722, this is not there and I have to go to "My Media" menu entry to see the drive contents. Is this becase the drive was originally formatted on the 622.

Thanks for any ideas.

I recently upgraded from a basic HD reciever to a VIP 612 and have been experiencing some problems since. I apologize if these issue have already been discussed I didn't find the solution in another post. The issue I am having is a delay when changing channels, this occurrs when changing from HD to HD as well as SD channels. It also occurrs when I use the recall button. Some of the times the receiver completely locks up and I have to reset it. Other times when the channel finally arrives there is no sound! The television I am using is a Sony 46XBR2. I didn't experience any of this with the old HD reciever I had. Any advice?

I thought the 722 had a one hour buffer for the currently tuned in channel. If that's true why do I observer this behavior:

I'm watching CBS at 7:00 PM when my timer for 60 minutes starts, the football game is not over so I then watch another recorded show (still tuned to the same CBS channel that's being recorded) while I wait for the game to fnish. After watching the recorded show I select the 60 Minute recording and choose "Start Over", I watch 60 minutes until the recording ends, which due to it's late start is only about 35 minutes into the broadcast. I then stop the recording and I'm then watching the CBS broadcast live (still in 60 Minutes) - I would have thought I could have backed up the live broadcast to where the timed recording stopped and watched the remainder of the show, however, there was no recorded material in the buffer. Has this always worked like this or am I doing something wrong?

TIA
Dave

The last 2 days i've had a lot of issues with my 722. I'm getting real choppy video on several channels, both on my HD set and my backfeed SD set.

Some HD channels are fine, like ESPN, but CBS and NBC HD are real choppy, as well as NFL Network, and SciFi for example.

I also have an VIP222 in another room, and I'm having no issues on the same channels.

I'm really getting pissed, as I've got the Colts/Pats game coming up tonight, and NBC is unwatchable in HD right now (SD is fine.)

One additional not, when I go to the full screen guide while on one of the problem channels, the mini-screen in the corner is running perfectly. But when I go back to full screen: choppy as heck.

Any Ideas?
