When I plug the same exact line into my HD-DVR, I have no problems so it can't be the line.

Did several RBR to no avail.

I recently purchased a HD-DVR - HR20-700 from Directv. I have the DVR hooked up via my wireless network. I can receive OnDemand, etc. Is there still a reason to keep my phone line attached to the DVR as well? I'm looking to drop my landline and just keep my DSL. So, if I need to keep the landline for right now, what is the DVR still pulling from the landline and are there any workarounds?

Last week, the H20-100 in my Mother-In-Law's family room stopped sending any signals over HDMI - no video, no audio, no guide, no menu, no video after a reset, nothing. When power cycled the power and resolution lights worked, but there was never again any output over HDMI - I've no idea about component or S-Video.

Protection Plan came out and replaced the box Saturday morning with an H23.

Today, a second H20-100 in a different room connected to a different TV just failed with the exact same symptoms.

It just seems far too coincidental that two receivers would fail in an identical manner within one week without some external factor, like a software issue or some type of problem where a bad PSIP map received via the tuner is somehow confusing the box.

(Conspiracy theory: DirecTV is doing it to sell more local channel subscriptions as the H20-100s had tuners and the H21s do not. ;) )

I thought about setting the receiver on the dresser then put the flat panel HDTV ontop of the receiver. Is this ok to do? Will it hurt the HDTV or the Receiver? I reset the box but it is getting stuck on the window that says step 1 of 2, Almost done. The resolution lights scroll and eventually after a 1/2 hour they stop on 480p. I've forced downloaded the software again and still doing the same thing.
