Loosing signal on Off air Antenna

Can't keep my signal constant. Some days I get 100 percent signal then right now I have 65 percent or 0 percent. I am running a channel master pre-amp. Do you think my power supply is out? If I disconnect my power supply I get the same signal at 65 percent instead off 100.

I don't have OTA because we're too far away for reception of anything. But my dad lives in Charleston SC and is within 10 miles of just about all the stations. After the digital transition all kinds of stupid stuff started happening with his OTA also... like you're describing.

I can't tell you that your problem is the same--but take it into consideration. Do you have any neighbors that have OTA also? See if they are experiencing the same problem. Can you take the OTA equipment to another location, hook it up, and see if it is still wacky? This would help you determine if it is faulty equipment and/or if it's simply a 'benefit' of the all digital.

Where in Cali are you? I would try takin off the amp for a while and see what happens. Your amp may be overpowering things. If you're in the SF area it could be with the new Sutro antennas something could have changed for you.

BINGO! Amplifiers cause more problems then they solve. A constant "65" is better than 100 - 0. You get a lock with a 65 signal, as long as it does not dip below 58 you will get continuous reception.

Is this an indoor antenna? If so aiming it out a window that faces in the direction of the transmitters will help. Yo need to do your homework on the direction of the transmitters. It's not always in the same direction as the city of license.
