Using old D-TIVO as a media server

I have an old hacked D-TIVO (not DTV Hacked, just the TIVO software) and I know I could stream content from my PC to the NOW PLAYING on the TIVO. Does anyone know if this will work if the reciever is NOT active? I would like to xfer some stuff over to it since the RR/FF does not work when streaming on the HDDVR using the PlayOn software.

Yeah. An Unsubbed Dtivo will work just fine. Just make sure it does NOT have software version 6.4 or greater. They took the MRV features out of that revision.
