It's unbelievable how much information they're trying to squeeze in.

Yes, it is alot, but is is a good use of the increased area of 16x9.

I say kudos to CNBC.

No cudos to CNBC b/c this is not a HD channel. It's an upconvert according to a CNBC rep. There's a whole thread over at AVS dedicated to this channel. From my 1 minute look at it, the tickerer across the bottom is small and moving at a snails pace. I'll just continue to watch the regular station.

Hey they even keep the stock info up during the commercials! I am like the worlds smallest investor of AMD stock, but if I were more heavily in the market, I would look at this as a wonderful value added addition.

Wow! I have just seen the first images of CNBC's new HD product. Now THIS is brilliant! They are using the 4x3 image - but it is upconverted. Their studio stuff looks gorgeous. They've pushed it over to the left and have created a double width panel which is being populated with charts and other types of financial data. Not only this, but I see that they plan on using the SAP (separate audio program) to let you listen to a secondary video window.

Sure, there will be cynical people out there who take pot shots at this because they didn't think of it - but what a GREAT use of the 16x9 format - and perfect for non-entertainment programming. As an investor, I feel like I've finally got the fantastic TV tool I've always wanted.

KUDOS to CNBC for doing this - it's brilliantly innovative.

i think it looks pretty good. Good way to not use stretch-o-vision, just fill up the area with useful info

The only part that's upconverted is the video. All of the graphics are very clearly HD, they're too sharp to be upconverted SD.

I am not sure I will get used to the very small top and bottom tickers. I hope they increase the size of those.

I agree. Watching it about 8 feet away on 42" plasma, it looked a little too small.

People have been complaining about CNBC not being "real HD", but this is not a bad use of the HD real estate. I'm really impressed.

I like the channel. It's a plus in my book.

It'd be nice if we could pick up the digital sub-channels. But that's a long story.

CSPAN3, BBC World, BBC One and Two, more international news channels

My father-in-law is the family's resident investments guru. This will finally convince his to get off his butt on HDTV.

Simply gorgeous and intelligent design.

It's my understanding that CNBC doesn't intend on buying HD equipment to broadcast their video in HD.

Its a good strategy to use until HD cameras become cheaper I suppose. I like the use of the real estate.
