Comcast NBCU Deal Before Congress

In addition to the letters sent to the House and Senate Committees by Dish Network, the lineup for the battle is starting to take shape.

According to Broadcasting & Cable House staffers urge Republican legislators to neutralize regulators, competitors, "public interest" groups while the LA Times Senator Al Franken comes out swinging against Comcast - NBC deal and NBC affiliates to oppose Comcast deal while Business Week reports
Quote:
Comcast Corp.’s proposed takeover of NBC Universal would test the future of free, over-the-air television, U.S. Representative Henry Waxman said.

“Many are concerned that this transaction could result in the best of NBC’s programming being transitioned to a pay-TV service,” Waxman, a California Democrat and chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said at a hearing today in Washington.
Sounds like a lot of hot air will be expended on this deal.

Does anyone believe this deal won't get approved?

Senator Al Franken (dang, but that sounds crazy) may be making some noise, but in the end, the gov't will approve yet another massive media merger.

Comcrap will figure out a way to get the deal approved. They will make the gov't happy yet still screw customers (their own and their competitors customers). We all know the FCC removed the loophole but Comcrap will drag this thing out for a long time and probably still get to keep CSN Philly from D* somehow.
