I hope the .00001% of the US population that have a 3DTV enjoy it.

The acronym N3D Network stands for: No 3 D programming available Network.

Shouldn't this "network" have been launched on 4/1 instead of 7/1 as its a total joke?

haha some of the comments sound like something the people without HDTVs would have said back when Directv launched some HD channels.

Hey, being that I have a 3D tv in the house, I am very interested. I look forward to seeing some new content BUT like when HD first started coming out it will all be repeats after about a month, and that's being genorous!

I am pleased for the people that have 3D hardware, they have something to play with and that's never a bad thing, but...

If this channel was a Fox Network TV show, it would have a life expectancy of 2 weeks...

It would be great if we could have one thread about 3d without having to hear from everyone who is not interested in it. Its tired and lame.

I am also happy to see this, as I do have a 3D TV. It's just a start, but that's what it is - a start. And you gotta start somewhere.

Sackchamp56 - Over at the AVS Forum they have a 3D section with thousands and thousands of posts from early adopters without the naysaying of '3D hate'.

I just spent a few minutes watching N3D. On the whole it's impressive. Yet it leaves a bit to be desired. I was watching Wild Safari, the head on shots are out of proportion. There are some shots where the camera is mounted on the back of a Jeep. The front end of the Jeep looks way too long and it looks far to narrow as well. Also at the start of the show The Earth comes off the screen at you. It begins to take the shape of something close to an Australian Rules Football. I expect over time as 3D becomes more mainstream we will see a fix for this type of thing. In the meantime I will just sit back and enjoy the ride.

The only fix for that is in the director/cameraman's hands. Unless your equipment is set up improperly, what you see is what they made. Just as with movies, live sports etc. - the camera's angle with 3D is a very different animal than with 2D.

I've seen folks bash 3D based on a 3 minute demo at BB, when all they were really doing IMHO was reviewing the movie itself. Some content is better than others, as is the case with HD. I wouldn't bash HD because of some of the stuff I see on TBS, for example. I bash TBS.

Bring it on - I have the channel recording and will take a peek at how it started out after work. Isn't there a 3D baseball game coming up in a week or so? When do the X-Games start?

You do realize that it doesn't really take up any more bandwidth than a regular HD channel? DIRECTV has this shiny new satellite up in space called D12 that adds significant capacity not available until the past few weeks.

We have watched the Dinosaur special this AM and were very pleased with 3D (on a Panasonic VT25) My husband, who is a Dinosaur documentary afficionado, was pleased but commented that the show itself was not that sophisticated. I am recording the Safari special on my DVR and will watch later. I know that will work. My DVR is not connected to my 3D TV, but I know I can playback with the Whole Home DVR setup. Has anyone tried to record on a DVD the 3D programming on their 3D TV? Would the DVD play back on a Bluray 3D DVD player on the 3D TV?......or is this a lost cause to record 3D unless they come out with a 3D DVD recorder?

I know what you're saying. But I can't imagine that tech improvements in the future can't correct the out of proportion shots that I saw. Whoever made the choice to not leave those shots on the cutting room floor is doing more harm than good to 3D.

So what's airing on this channel? Some wildlife documentaries? What else? Anything recognizable?

Since they're using Side-by-Side, you should be able to record it to a DVD and play it back on a standard BD player. Your display takes the Side-by-Side image and displays it as 3D.

Do they have DVD recorders with HDMI inputs, because you'll definitely need one since Directv is only allowing the 3D signal over HDMI, not component.

Thank you for the input. I definitely can not record it on my HD TV with the DVR, it gives me the "no 3D connection". I guess I have to get a DVD recorder for my 3D TV....this technology just keeps forcing us to do more, doesn't it. (or move it to my 3D TV).

n3D On Demand doesn't have the programming properly tagged as 3D, so you can play it back without the receiver detecting a 3DTV.
