With their being a new price decrease on the 501 on the NEW ones lately and then the 508 being released at the price that the 501 was before for just a little more this should make even a new 501 be worth even less than it would had if the 508 would not have been released so I would think one should find good deals on these just like you could on the dishplayers after a little time passes by. I believe I have heard them being lowered to $225-$250 new to deplete the stock to make room for 508's.
Some may just use them as a second receiver to replace a cheap receiver like a 2700/3700/3900/etc. or just have it as an additional which it is great for instead of selling it. I would think e-bay would have more now with people going out to buy the 721 now.
How about those that went to Tivo that did not like the 501? That would be another target at getting some used 501's.
