What is "Nick GAS"? I can't recall ever hearing of it.

I remember when Nick/TV Land used to have Dragnet, Get Smart, Hitchcock, and Superman late at night when I was in college. I agree that most of the stuff they put out is junk and I haven't watched it in a long time. They even dropped M*A*S*H that used to air at 11pm and 11:30pm..now its on later and I am already asleep.

Hopefully someday Nick/TV Land will go back to their roots and air shows like these in the evening or nights:

Dragnet
Superman
Get Smart
You Can't Do That On Television (don't say "water!")
Hitchcock
M*A*S*H
Batman

Luckily, our RTN affiliate (WHTM 27.2) currently airs a lot of old shows that would fit well on TV Land/Nick like Emergency!, Dragnet, Quincy, Monkeys, etc.

Nick GAS = Nickelodeon Games And Sports. It was a diginet that showed classic Nick game shows like Nick Arcade and Double Dare. DirecTV was just about the only MSO in the country not to carry it. Nick GAS was replaced with The N at the beginning of the year.

M*A*S*H is currently shown daily on Hallmark & ION. Looks like a couple of episodes per day on ION and four on Hallmark.

M*A*S*H reruns were a staple for many years on various local OTA stations in my market.

I would love to see TVLand go back to its old programming. My young kids have never seen any of the old shows that were pretty good. Now, you have to say something crude and obnoxious to make you think you're funny.

Amen.

I agree. I love those old shows and was looking forward to having them when we got DirecTV. No such luck. A channel of 40s to 80s classics would be great. I even miss Life With Elizabeth. I hate the night after night of Lopez and Fresh Prince and Roseanne. I didn't like them when they were on originally.

I think it's pretty sad when there are 150+ channels available to DirecTV customers and that there is nothing on at least half of the time. Nick at Nite started off great and then sold itself to modern "classics". It's the same story for TVLand. TVland has gotten to the point of being unwatchable. Unfortunately, I believe that the "mainstream" rules the airwaves. If a certain program or genre of programs doesn't fit within the mainstream and will not generate a mass audience, it is a no-go. It's pretty sad because my taste in TV and music does not fit withing the mainstream 90% of the time.

Yep - completely agree. There are channels out there that carry classic TV (www.rtnville.com) but D* hasn't chosen to add one yet. In the meantime, you can get a pretty good solution with a combination of Hulu (www.hulu.com), CBS's archives (www.cbs.com), and PlayOn (http://www.themediamall.com/playon). The Hulu library is quite extensive and CBS has some good older stuff (The Twilight Zone, Star Trek original series, Have Gun Will Travel). In fact I am considering how I could use this in combination with the cheapest D* HD programming package to meet my needs.

Kevin

My top 5 wishlist: 1) Free MRV HR to HR 2) Fix Channels I Receive so that it is accurate 3) > 50 SeriesLink 4) Usage of both internal and external drives concurrently 5) Support for other video providers as DoD (i.e. Hulu, CBS)

DirecTV HR21-200, 2008 (DirecTV anniversary gift)
DirecTV HR20-100 (2TB eSATA), 2007
DirecTV since 1995

You said it ML!

Same thing with other "networks" such as TLC and even History Channel!

There are times when there is absolutely nothing to watch out of all the channels I get!
Yes, I have a television that I watch from time to time.

I'd rather see them bring back the old "Logan's Run" series, or "The Planet of the Apes" TV show. How about the "6 million dollar man", "good times", or "Heart to Heart"?

I heard Viacom wanted and tried to make a classic Nick channel but in the end didn't have enough funding. Does anyone know if that's true or not?
