Fox is suing Dish for breach of contract because they don't have it in it's most widely distributed package...so any deals with Fox and DIsh are probably off the table for now. I for one think FOXnews should be in the AT100 along with other news networks, and hope they settle this so we can get FBN. Heres a link for the article from back in December...i haven't seen anything else on it yet, so i'm assuming they are still in or awaiting court.

Sure seems like we need a thread for lawsuit updates - no discussion - just status on all lawsuits.

The news article said -

It said EchoStar had distributed Fox News this year on its second most widely distributed package, a 200-channel package known as "America's Top 200."

How is that possible? We aren't getting it at all ...What' sup with that

I think that you have FOX news confused with Fox News Business. They are two different channels. So while good old Fox News has been on for years, Fox News Business is relatively new.

FBN is a new Fox channels to rival CNBC...Direct and some cable companies have it in HD right now...but we don't probably due to the lawsuit. Foxnews is on channel 205.

Could this be part of the reason SPEEDHD is not part of the "by end of year" DISH wish list?? Ties to FOX that is.

I doubt it.

we don't even carry the SD feed of FBN, whether or not the lawsuit has something to do with it...i'm not even positive...but i'm guessing it does. I wouldn't think SPEED would be lumped together with the news channels package location issues.

Thanks. Just curious because I don't understand the omission of SPEEDHD from the end of year wish list. I would think it would rank higher in demand than some others, like TennisHD. Could be just my bias though.

There was a thread some time ago about the Fox News/Dish suit. I found it interesting that they decided to sue after being on Dish in the exact same package for MANY years. Why didn't they sue when they were first put in the package, at day one? Sillyness.

I completely agree, SPEED should defiantly be up there. I'm in the same boat with FX.

Fox News wants placement at AT100 ... DISH doesn't want to raise the prices on AT100 subscribers to add Fox News to that package. Fox believes that their contract that apparently calls for the most widely distributed package should include AT100. Even though since the day Fox News was added it has always been in the second tier (now called AT150) they are apparently now redefining their contract.

It may not take place at least until the legal wraggling between Dish Network and News Corporation over the placement of Fox News Channel is resolved.

I probable would not be surprised to learn that maybe the reason CNN and Headline News are at the AT100 level and FNC and MSNBC are at the AT200 level could be a sweetheart deal between Dish Network and Time Warner.

So does Direct get the HD feed for Fox News Channel? Or is that just not available to the masses yet?

Last I checked DirecTV did not carry Fox News Channel in HD. They carry the new Fox Business Channel lauched last year, but not the regular Fox News.
