Any word yet about MLB EI for next year? Will everything be in HD and will the Superfan charge be done away with? I didn't care much for the Interactive Stats.

Supposedly all that is HD will be HD. (MASN, which carries the Orioles and Nationals still hasn't committed to HD.)

Satelliteracer (a DirecTV guy) says we will be pleased. He has delivered at other times. He is trustworthy.

No word on pricing yet.

Pricing not set yet. Yes, there will be a SuperFan component for HD, much like NFL.

So every local RSN feed will be in HD by default, yet we will still have to pay a Superfan surcharge for HD? This isn't logical to me. What extra costs are there for HD if the normal feed is in HD from the source?

Hopefully we see some OTA in HD and not just My9 from New York.

This Superfan crap is starting to bother me. I'd like to get this because I'm a Twins fan living in Wisconsin but I don't think its worth $200 + $100 for HD. I'm not sure its worth $200 total.

I agree it's not logical eithor. With all the RSN's being in HD for games there should be very few games this coming year that aren't in HD.

Now why cant it be like it is for NHL Center Ice? They aren't making us pay more for HD feeds of games and now they are starting to actually give us feeds from both teams which is quite nice. Do they make you guys with NBA LP buy a "Superfan" package for HD games? I'm not an NBA fan but i see the -1 channels in the guide. Curious.

I liked the interactive stats feature of MLB EI last year but its not something I HAVE to have. All the games in HD is prefectly OK with me. I can get stats here on the Internet anytime.

No to extra pay for NBALP in HD! But, there are not that many HD games per night. Maybe three or four. It is getting better!

According to MASN, they are planning on at least one HD channel by April 2008. Due to them carrying the O's and Nationals, no idea about the MASN 2 channel (whether it will also be in HD or not) when both teams play at the same time.

I am definitely looking forward to the 2008 MLB season and lots and lots of HD games!

According to Directv.com, neither NHL CI or NBA LP have this superfan surcharge attached; only NFL ST and MLB EI do. Elsewhere in this forum, I have read that NASCAR HP is going to be in HD also next year without any additional surcharge. If these Superfan charges are still in place in 2008, at least there will be discussion points for a phone call based upon these inconsistencies. Paying extra just for interactive stats is a bit extreme in my view.

Last year MLBEI + SF was $160 + $40 I think. The $160 has been the same for a couple years I think.

Because Extra Innings will be available solely through DirecTV, we can be sure that there will be setup similar to Sunday Ticket.

I think the biggest challenge for DirecTV will be getting all the authorization issues worked out prior to the season. There has been improvement with Hockey and Basketball, yet there are still problems every week with both packages. I still think they are working the kinks out with the newer HD RSN’s, & D10; which is fine with me because I see a real effort to provide a high number of HD games with both these packages.

However, when baseball roles around, and they charge us an extra Benjamin or so for the HD, things will need to be better. With the large number of baseball games in HD, I couldn’t imagine trying to explain authorization issues night after night to CSR’s after this year's Center Ice and League Pass seasons, which I’m just chalking up to the learning curve for Direct.

I have Nats season tix. The team has promised HD views of the game in the bars and elsewhere around the new stadium (opening in March). So I'm sure they're going to want to get those HD broadcasts onto MASN. Of course, Angelos will charge an HD carriage fee.

D* does not have SuperFan packages for NBA LP or NHL CI, why? Because there's competition. They can do whatever the want with NFL ST. SuperFan for MLB EI was set up when D* thought they had an exclusive. Had they known InDemand would also get Extra Innings I wonder if MLB EI SuperFan would exist.

Did this change? Last season On Demand offered MLBEI for cable.

SuperFan was $39 last year and early bird was $159 for MLB.

It's still available on SOME cable systems, but not DISH.
