Good god, I hope the games are in HD, otherwise CSTV is a waste of bandwidth.

CSTV, ch 610, requires the Sports Pack or Premier Package.

I get ch. 610, but do not have premier or sports pack. I doubt I will ever tune to 610.

My 88yr old Grandma has HR-20 and can't stand the "black bars". She'd rather watch stretch-o-vision.

I think pretty much all TVs offer an option to sttttretch the picture to fill the screen. It should be our choice, not thrust upon us by the broadcaster.

You obviously don't know how long it takes to explain something like that to someone in the 80+ range...

Took me 30 minutes to explain to my grandparents how they can watch their local HD channels because D*, in all their infinite wisdom, took out the internal tuner in the H21-700 receiver... :(

It would be easier if their D* remote could program their new Olevia television...

Getting a new HD channel only to find out that it's in Strech-o-vision is very disturbing. I almost take it an insult because it seems like the network assumes that anyone who hates the black bars can't figure out how to adjust it themselves.

While I sympathize with your issues (especially the remote and lack of RF tuner in the H21), that is no excuse to make the rest of us suffer. :P

We can try to contact the networks and complain, but... I searched CSTV's website and they don't have any general e-mail contacts... It's a CBS company, you'd think they'd know better.

I don't know about CSTV, but the last I saw The Tennis Channel HD official launch date is the 31st. One can hope that Directv launched a stretched version of these channels early to make less work for the holiday and the real channels won't be like this. Given the idiocy of stretching sports, it's odd that two HD sports channels would launch the same day and both stretch their programming--unless I'm unaware of joint ownership.

Speaking of which, I believe Directv owns a stake in The Tennis Channel, so if the stretching does continue we can actually complain to Directv about it.

Directv does have a stake in The Tennis Channel; I see no mention of Comcast:

If the channel lineup only suited your needs, it would be called JonJ-TV ;)

i'd much rather have it stretched, the pq still looks better on a "hd" channel that is stretched than the Standard def one for sure, plus i'm too lazy to stretch it on my own most the time :)

Best thing about my new Samsung DLP tv, the "picture size" button will force 4:3 on anything, so I can "unstretch" those idiot channels like A&E HD and History HD. So take that!!! Muahahahaha.
Agree stretching sports is extra added idiocy!
