Will any of the games in the World Championships be available via Center Ice or the NHL Network? USA vs. Canada this afternoon.

It's only available online for a fee: http://www.wcsn.com/...d=bIIHFwc050208

No regular TV coverage in the US.

One bit of good news is that the NHL Network in the USA will be carrying the Memorial Cup from May 16-25. Also, the above website offers the IIHF Worlds at a pretty reasonable price...including on demand coverage, which comes in handy for those games played during working hours.

Weren't they planning to show the Worlds (maybe the final round only) on the NHL Network?

I will never understand why this tournament coincides with the stanley cup playoffs. Can't they hold it one month later?

Tournament is played in Europe 99% of the time following the European playoffs. I am not sure if playing it in June would help things ...

In fact, it would likely hurt things, as players are less likely to want to interrupt their offseason to participate.

It all starts tomorrow. Could the NHL Network show us something?

how much of a demand is there in the us for this tournament. Most hockey fans are watching the playoffs.

Nevertheless, Universal Sports (a NBC subchannel that you will need an over the air attenta for) is showing the following (probably either pickbacking TSN's Coverage or the IIHF feed)

Wed, May 06 -
Thu, May 07 Men's Quarterfinals at Bern, SUI Time TBA

Sat, May 09 Men's Semifinals at Bern, SUI Time TBA

Sun, May 10 Men's Gold Medal Match at Bern, SUI Time TBA

Sun, May 10 Men's Bronze Medal Match at Bern, SUI Time TBA

TSN up in Canada is also showing all the Canada games. Those arent available anywhere in the US that I can see.

Which means these games won't be seen by most people.

Not like they're showing a whole lot. And TSN up in Canada is only showing Canada's games. The only option is to watch online but I'm not a fan of that.

Probably. Universal Sports is a subchannel on very many NBC stations.

Canada vs Russia is shown in the guide for 9 PM PDT this evening on 5-2 in Seattle.

What is weird about that is Canada doesn't play Russia tonight. Canada's first game is Friday afternoon and it isn't against Russia.
