I have been subscribing to NBA LP for several years now. I just looked and NBA TV is off the air. Should I be getting it since I am a LP subscriber?

Since NBA LP is out of season right now, no. Only once your subscription restarts.

Has there been some other change that affects blackouts? When I saw today that NBATV was no longer available with my base package, I subscribed to the sports package. But this morning, the first two things I tried to watch were blacked out -- a WNBA game from LA and, on right now, an NBA All-Star game from Florida. The previous 7 months, I never saw that anything was blacked out on NBATV. Is it just a coincidence that the same day I have to start paying a special fee for this channel, games start being blacked out?

Edit: Now I can see the NBA All-Star game that was blacked out a few minutes ago. So maybe it was just some sort of temporary glitch that showed it as blacked out.

none of this makes sense,I've had nba league pass since 1995 and the nba channel since its beginning,as of today july 1 directv took away the nba hd channel but i still ge the nba sd channel i have always gotten the nba channel YEAR ROUND as long as i subcscribed to the NBA league pass. they took it off last summer for the firstime in the12 years or so that ive had it ,now im afraid if i call directv and complain about not having the NBA HD channel they''ll take away the sd version of the nba channel that i still have. so how abiut it sattellite racer if i had the NBA league pass this pass season should i still have the NBA HD channel through the summer?

I would guess so. The only thing that might be blacked out on that channel would be one of their live games when they are showing your local market team (probably doesn't apply in your case unless any of the California teams claim Hawaii as part of their "home" market).

I did think it was pretty funny to get the HD version and not the SD version. Oh well, I didn't watch it much anyhow. Thanks for the info.

I subscribe to League Pass as well.....and i still receive the nba/sd, but nba/hd i am not receiving...........you would think if you receive the sd station, and have the HD pack, that you would also receive nbatv in HD.

So let me get this straight. I don't have NBA-LP or the Sports Pack so I dont' get NBATV in HD, but I do in SD? so I have to go in and channel line up and change my NBA HD channel to NBA SD?

Why would they give you a channel in SD and not HD when you have the HD package? Are they going to start doing this for other channels even if you have the HD pack?

Is my bill going to be
Choice Plus HD/DVR $62.99
HD Extra Pack $4.99
HD Extra Sports Extra Pack (Get HD sports channels of the ones you get in SD) $4.99
HD Extra Extra Extra Pack (Get the really cool channels in HD) $4.99

It's basically the same thing they're doing for baseball. If you have the RSN package and HD access you can watch the channels UNTIL a baseball game comes on. Then you can only watch the HD version if you have MLBEI and SuperFan.

It is just a way to get you to pay them more because of the sumer league games that are on nbatv. Why else would they wait tell just before it starts to do this? Same shot as last year.

This is exactly how the NFL network has worked for me over the past few years. I get it in SD because I subscribe to Sunday Ticket, but even though I pay $10/month for HD I don't get NFL network in HD because I only have the Family Package. It makes no sense to me, and it really screws up the ability to use "Hide SD Duplicates" on the HR20.
