Call Sign: WGNO
Location: New Orleans, LA
Channel: 26-2
Issue: Channel missing from guide.

This subchannel (Antenna TV) has been listed with TMS for weeks and still has not made it into the database.

If the channel is correct in TMS, but not in the HR20 guide, then sometimes I use this "fix" for the HR20 OTA.
It has worked more than once. I used it just today to correct missing OTA channels on 2 HR20's. Follow all the steps.

Here's a fix for HR20 OTA

Tried that and it didn't work.

I've emailed DIRECTV and after the getting the "here's how you scan" canned response, I replied and asked to be elevated. I got a response saying that "We're sorry that you are not able to receive Channel 26.2 but DIRECTV cannot guarantee the reception of the Off-Air Antenna." and "I have forwarded your comments to management for review".

If DIRECTV would set up an email address to the person or department who oversees the OTA database, these problems might get addressed much faster.

DMA: Chicago
Channel: 26-5
Callsign: WCIU
Receivers Impacted: AM21, HR20, H20
Issue: WCIU 26-5 (RF 27) not showing up in guide

Tribune Media is already updated for WCIU and the subchannels. WCIU 26-1, 26-2, 26-3, 26-4 are all showing up in the guide
26-5 says "channel not available" and you cannot even manually tune it. The AM-21 box won't let you. D*'s channel mappings are out of sync with Tribune Media.

DMA: Chicago
Channel: 24-1
Callsign: WPVN
Receivers Impacted: AM21, HR20, H20
Issue: WPVN 24-1 (RF 20) not showing up in guide. Please add. Tribune Media is already updated for WPVN and the subchannels.

+1

I also sent an email to WPVN. I found the email address on the website:

OK, now this has gotten worse. Tribune has not fixed the guide data, which is driving the station crazy trying to find out why. It is not just affecting D* but cable also.

Issue: Tribune has the guide data for the SD signal for KBFX- FOX which should be 58.2 as 29.2. D* remapped the OTA boxes to match the Tribune information. The problem is that 29.2 is the THIS network and that is what you see when you tune to that channel.

The fix, keeping 29.2 mapped, Tribune fixing the guide data so that we now get the THIS channel and D* mapping 58.1, which is the HD version of FOX in Bakersfield. The guide data is correct for 58.1 and that is the station people want to watch.

Come on D*. help fix this mess. If you would contact the engineer and/or programming department you could help get this corrected.

If you look at Zap2it, 29.2 is listed twice. What a mess.

D* finally had this fixed yesterday. 2 weeks after the issue started. As a point of comparison, both Brighthouse and Dish had it corrected by 4AM last Sunday. It seems they were able to make the correction on their side without waiting for Tribune.

This morning the OTA mappings on my HR20-700 are all jumbled. I went through a reset to clear them and they still come back wrong. On my HR20-100 everything is correct.

Correct info:
17-1 KGETDT
17-2 KGETDT2
17-3 KGETDT3
23-1 KERODT
29-1 KBAKDT
45-1 KUVIDT
58-2 KBAKDT2

What I'm getting my HR20-700:
23-1 KERODT
23-3 KGETDT3
29-1 KBAKDT
42-2 KGETDT2
58-2 KBAKDT2

Fortunatly I use the 700 to record 29-1 and 23-1 so those will be fine, but the rest is not quite right.

Must be a receiver issue. Hopefully it is not dieing on me. It hung up and needed a RBR. Once it came back up all the mappings were correct but it would not tune properly. A followup menu reset straightened everything out.

I just reran the initial setup hoping 58-1 KBFX would now, at long last, be correctly pulled by the D* software. NO SUCH LUCK. To make matters worse 23-1 KERODT has now disappeared from the channel lineup. The AM21 does not function as advertised in this market.

I sent TMS an email via Zap2it. The OTA gudie for Phoenix is not even close to what we actually have. Several channels are not listed and sub-channels are missing or giving 771 errors. The main issue is we are back to getting 771 for 7.2.
The current OTA list

Please note there are some low power analog stations in the list.

Still not available. I reset and setup the attenana again. Lost a bunch of channels I didn't watch anyway. But that's not really the point.

If I have to build a media pc to record ota, I might as will just drop Directv - there are other sources for most of the content they provide.

I've given up on D* ever mapping everything in Bakersfield so I'm going to add a Tivo to my setup for the other HD stations they refuse to map. Ordering from Weaknees.

I got a call last night from customer service regarding the email I sent about missing channels. I made it very clear it was an AM-21 OTA issue. I kept the email conversation alive by asking questions as to when it will be fixed, whether I'd be notified, etc. Eventually they called.

The rep was very nice. While she admitted she didn't understand the details of the issue, she did say that the more people who send emails the more likely something will get done. So, send nice emails and maybe it will get resolved.

It has been several months. I have called and Emailed Directv many times.
The station engineer did also but they gave the story that 3.2 is not on the sat (correct its over the air).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE to add a channel to the database? Did the intern at DirecTV that was typing the info in leave?

I trying the reset fix posted here every week to update my info, but it does not work. Tried on all 3 HD DVRs

-------------- old post from first of year---------------------
Missing the 3.2 KMTV in Omaha Ne
We are missing channel 3.2 in the guide data for Omaha Ne

It is a new music channel that has been up for 2 months.

The station engineer has called DirecTV 3 times and does not seem to be getting to the right department as some of the reps on the call claim the HR20-xx can do free scans for OTA which all know is not true ( the channel must be matched in the database for the zip code for it to show up on the guide).

I also emailed Tribune

The guide data is on Zap2it from Tribune.

Having the same problem here with WGNODT2 26.2 in New Orleans. It has been listed with TMS for months and no remedy seems to work.

Questions for the mods:

Is anyone at DIRECTV reading this thread? If not, why are we even bothering to post here? If someone from DIRECTV is reading this thread, can you at least give us the name of the department responsible for these issues? The frontline and even advanced level CSRs mostly do not understand this issue and can't help either due to ignorance or inability. If DIRECTV really wanted to tackle the OTA database problem, they would create an email address where all OTA issues could be submitted.

I agree, DirecTV should add a form on there web page so customers can report OTA issues.

It takes like 60 seconds to type it into there OTA zip code database to fix the issue.
I would even pay a couple of dollars to cover the Interns pay to type it into the DB.

I am with sore_bluto here. What is the point in even posting on this site, or this thread? This should be a fairly easy fix, yet it is next to impossible. Why don't they give us an option to let us 'scan' OTA channels like everyone else does? Who had the bright idea to set up this database?

As soon as uverse is available in my neighborhood, I am ready to dump Directv.
