There's a strange inversion in N.Y.C. between Channels 5 and 9

Call Sign: WNYW-DT 5.1 HD
but WNYW-DT 5.2 SD but what's actually airing is Channel 9 WWOR-DT SD
Location: New York City

So guess what's next:

Call Sign: WWOR-DT 9.1 HD HD[/COLWOR]
but WWOR-DT 9.2 SD but what's airing is[COLOR="Red"] Channel 5-WNYW- SD
Location: New York City

Call Signal : WHA
City: Madison, WI

Issue: The station realigned its digital stations about a month and a half ago and I don't believe they've been correct on my receiver since. Current stations are 21-1 (HD), 21-2 (Create?), and 21-3 (WI). After rescan, receiver only shows 21-2, 21-3, and 21-5. The -5 used to be the HD subchannel, so it seems they just need to change the number to 21-1.

Equipment: HR20-700

Confirmed.

Both 8-1 and 8-2 provide a strong reading on the meter, but only 8-1 tunes in.

Baby steps...

What I can address is that these Fox co-owned stations broadcast each others station, in SD, on its .2 sub-channel.

This goes back to when WWOR lost its signal when the World Trade Center tower came down. WNYW-DT was even then located on the Empire State Building and this was a quick way for Fox to provide 9's signal over-the-air.

Why Fox continues this practice is a head scratcher - it's nothing but a waste of bandwidth!

Box: HR20-700 with software 0x02AF
Location: Austin DMA
Call Sign: KTFO-CA
Virtual Channel: 62-2
Issue: Not in channel guide. This channel (Spanish language) recently added to 62-2; I see it on another set using a Zenith DTT-901 but is not yet in the channel guide for the HR20-700.

Call sign : WOTH-LD, WKRP-TV, WBQC-TV, Skyline (RF Channel 47, 671 mhz)

Location : Cincinnati, OH

Channels : 25-1,25-2,25-3,25-4

Issue : Now broadcasting - not in OTA guide.

Editorial Note: This would not be an issue if Directv would just turn on the scan for channels function!

These are still not working here in Cincinnati, OH, I have to switch to TV's tuner to view them. DirecTV needs to upgrade upgrade their channel lists.

This issue has been unresolved since December 22, 2008

Location: New Orleans
Call Sign: WVUE-DT
Virtual Channel: 8-2
Issue: Channels 8-1 and 8-2 are listed in the guide, but only 8-1 tunes. 8-2 shows signal in the meter, but gets a 771 error when tuned. Virtual channel 8-2 needs to be assigned from physical channel 29-2 to physical channel 8-2.

The engineer over at WVUE has been trying to get the right contact and it appears as if Decisionmark (the parent of Titan TV, MediaStar) is the culpable party. If this is incorrect, I'd love to be corrected. I've contacted TMS as well. Any advice on fixing this issue would be appreciated.

I wonder if this is a similar issue to what's happening on 14-1 in the Austin market. Looking at it on a DTT901 converter box shows that the signal which should be 14-1 is identifying itself as 36-1, and as a result despite a strong signal the HR20-700 shows a 771 error for 14-1.

I don't know if incorrect PSIP data fouls up the HR20. The problem I'm having is that the physical channel number has changed and someone with the guide service hasn't fixed the metadata in the guide database.

Call Sign: KMOV
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Channel: 4-1
Issue: The local station apparently changed their digital broadcast frequency last night. Just tried re-running the antenna setup, but still nothing. Since the HR20's don't have true scanning, DirecTv is going to have to change their OTA data before we can receive via HR20 again.

Edit: Never mind. I had to go to setup and "Reset Off-Air Settings", then go back in an redo "Initial Setup". Channel 4-1 is now back. Sorry. Guess I pulled the trigger a little too quickly.

Do not get channel 33-3 here in Youngstown (24 HR weather, it would be usefull)
Come on D* just update teh software for the AM21 so it will scan for channels.....

DirecTV cannot offer channels unless Tribune Media Services has it. Their info for your area is visible at http://tvlistings.za...neupId=PC:44501 and it does not include Ch 33.3. Try notifying them at their feedback link: http://www.zap2it.co...0,6935396.story

I see that the Zap-To-It data looks correct for 8-1 and 8-2. http://tvlistings.za...p&zipcode=70112

Strange that you can see both of them in the DirecTV guide but only one of them tunes in correctly. Hope it works for you soon.

WBKO in Bowling Green, KY recently made the move from Digital 33 to Digital 13 (their former analog channel) yesterday. The guide needs to be updated to reflect the new digital channel for 13.1 (ABC), 13.2 (Fox) and 13.3 (CW). WBKO is apparently still mapped to Digital channel 33.

Also, WKYU-PBS, is offering a weather channel service on 24.2, 24.3, and 24.4.

Edited by n2radio, 21 January 2009 - 08:37 AM.
Digital 13.1 (ABC) is NOT working. All channels for WBKO are still mapped to Digital 33.

It is very strange that only 8.1 tunes correctly. I have written to Tribune and zap2it to explain the situation and I have no hope that this will ever be corrected. I have to believe this is a very easy fix, but there is 'no one' you can call to fix it.

For me, I have decided to add an additional ATSC tuner just to pick up 8.2 here locally in New Orleans. I just wonder what genius at directv decided to populate our OTA channels from a database in lieu of giving us the ability to 'scan' for them.

I am sure this nonsense will be multiplied around the country when more stations switch to digital and move physical channel numbers around. Get ready..:)

That's because when WVUE-DT recently moved to physical channel 8, the guide data got updated for the prime channel, 8-1, but not for the sub channel, 8-2. Your HR20 is still looking for WVUE 8-2 on the old physical RF channel.

This will not be fixed until Tribune/Zap2it, et al correct the guide data they provide DirecTV.

You know I really hate sounding like a broken record, but I wonder if calling D* would help. It might get this moved up the priority chain.

Here are the problems

HR20 Missing:
16-1 WVAW-LP (ABC16)
19-2 19 WxNow

H20 is missing these same channels, except they can be found during a manual scan, but CANNOT be added channel list. When you tune to channel 19-1 you get 16-1 about 50% of the time. When you tune to channel 27-2 you get 19-2 about 50% of the time.

All 5 channels (16-1, 19-1, 19-2, 27-1, and 27-2) all transmit on Channel 40 (currently). Being that low power channels don't need to switch, I'm not sure if they are going to turn of the analog signals or not.

16-1 does show up on every online guide I have seen mentioned in this thread (TitanTv, etc.) I'm really at a loss as to what to do.

Any recommendations?
