Call Sign: WVUE
Location: New Orleans, LA
Channel: 8-2
Issue: 8-1 tunes, 8-2 doesn't.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but this is ridiculous.

Several of us in New Orleans have contacted Tribune. One of the engineers at WVUE has contacted Tribune. (I think more than one WVUE employee has contacted tribune about this, but I know at least one has, more than once.)

The WVUE engineer verified that Tribune has and is sending DirecTV the correct RF channel and PID info! Tribune is emphatic that it is DirecTV's problem!

This problem has existed since Dec. 22 when WVUE switched from RF 29 to RF 8.

The info for 8-1 was updated within a couple of days, but...

They either didn't switch 8-2 from RF 29, or they made a typo in the PID when they input the new info for both. The DirecTV HR2x receivers don't give the user enough info to know which problem it is.

The meters indicate good signal on both 8-1 and 8-2, if that's helpful in diagnosing the problem.

8-1 tunes in perfectly, 8-2 produces error 771.

Fish Man is referring to OTA reception of 8-2, using a DirecTV HR2x DVR or AM-21 OTA tuner. These tuners rely on virtual/physical channel data provided by D* for tuning this OTA channel.

No need for that explanation...

That's what this entire thread is about: Errors in D*'s tuning data used by their OTA tuners.

I'm reporting one (for the umpteenth time, that is).

Call Sign: WVUE
Location: New Orleans, LA
Channel: 8-2
Issue: 8-1 tunes, 8-2 doesn't.

This issue has been resolved. Eamon Foster with Tribune (518-792-9914 x2281) spoke with the engineer at WVUE directly and agreed to edit the metadata correcting the problem. He changed the physical channel number in their stream from 29 to 8. 8-2 now tunes on HR2* without the need for a restart.

Hello Everyone,

Let me first apologize if this has been addressed and I missed it, but I did do a search and didn't come up with anything. Now that the weather channel on 11-2 is gone, the retro station is running on 11-2, but the guide info is still on 11-3...does anyone know of any plans to correct it?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Call Signal : WHA
City: Madison, WI

Issue: The station realigned its digital stations about a month and a half ago and I don't believe they've been correct on my receiver since. Current stations are 21-1 (HD), 21-2 (Create?), and 21-3 (WI). After rescan, receiver only shows 21-2, 21-3, and 21-5. The -5 used to be the HD subchannel, so it seems they just need to change the number to 21-1.

Equipment: HR20-700

That's odd. It's been correct on my HR20-700 since before your post. Do you still have the problem?

On a positive note, they recently added 27-2 (RetroTV). There's no episode info being sent, but at least we can now tune/record it.

The actual RF channel numbers do not have sub channel designations. They are just "11" & "22"

Neither of these stations are listed with Tribune Media Services. Contact the stations and ask that they provide guide information for the missing channels to TMS. Once they are listed, they will show up at www.zap2it.com and eventually will show up in your guide.

I am a little curious how quickly the OTA signals in the HR20 will be updated to the correct channels tomorrow.

When the stations transition tomorrow to there permanent transmitters, how long will it take for D* to update the software in the HR20 and AM21 systems? Can I just do a rescan on my H20 even if the channels don't match what D* tells the box?

It will be interesting when I get home from work tomorrow.

One of my locals, WILX, made their digital switch during the overnight. I was able to rescan my H20-600 and it found the new channel, however, my HR20-100 will not tune. Looks like the IRD is still trying to look at the old channel location.

Can anything be done so that I don't miss my NBC recordings tonight?

What was the old location. 10.1 and 10.2 are in the zap2it.com listings. If this station came in through your HR20 it had to be digital. Where was it.

It looks like this station has moved from the pre-transition UHF channel 57 to post-transition VHF 10. Contact the station manager or engineer and have them call Eamon Foster with Tribune (518-792-9914 x2281) and he will change the metadata.

WTRF DT in Wheeling WV went digital today. It went from it's UHF to VHF 7. I'm at work but will be home soon enough to see if my HR20 will rescan for the new location.

Just an fyi...the HR20 will not 'rescan'. The new physical channel number must be in the metadata provided in the Tribune [zap2it] guide data. See sore_bluto post above yours for a resource to call. Mr. Foster was the one that helped us here in New Orleans correct a similar problem.

Cheers,
John
